I would reject the unit and ask for a replacement as it was obviously not new if it already had recordings on the HDD.

Has anyone ever identified exactly what the hardware differences are between the two boxes as from the Humax web site I sruggle to see in what way the 5000 differs from the 4000.
As I have previously posted the only hardware difference is the case.

I downloaded it a while ago as I have been very tempted to do this as well, especially as the early internal photo showed a FVP-4000 sticker on it.
I think once I know it can be downgraded back to the FVP-4000, just in case there are any issues, I will give it ago.
I tested this yesterday, downgrading was problematic, but I managed it in the end….not giving anymore details as I do not want to be held responsible for members bricking their units.

1. Humax have not stated that 4000T support has ended.
2. Would not recommend anyone else trying the 5000T software on a 4000T until I have checked this out with Humax Towers.

The download file didn’t work. So how do i transfer files back to Humax do i have to use a FTP client?
Yes you can use FileZilla or similar, transfer the files to the download folder.

If the Unit is HMS 1000T (4 Tune) then it does indeed have Samba & FTP Server functions.

I have set a power on timer for 8.00-08.15 but the start time keeps re-setting itself to 0.00. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
EDIT: Tried setting it for 7.00-7.15 and it seems to have saved OK. Fingers crossed.
A known issue reported during testing 8 and 9 are the problematic numbers.
