ModeratorAt least we had recent backups 😉

ModeratorIf you bought it on the understanding it was new – not display or customer return, then take it back and demand a new/unused replacement.
A new unit should have protective film covering it as well.

That is not correct at all, your suspicions are well founded.
As a matter of interest where did you buy it from?

Try this:
•Switch on your Freesat/Freeview (in you case HDR 7500T) Box
•Take the batteries out of your remote control
•Point your remote at the receiver on the box hold down the standby button for about 15 seconds
•Put the batteries back in
If all has gone well it should drain all power from the remote and cause it to reset itself.
Another cause could be a mismatch of the remote code in use between unit and remote see this FAQ
Caveat – I have no idea if your specific unit has this facility, but the remote almost certainly will, so it mght be an idea to step thru all 6 codes in turn (with unit powered off initially, and then on when code has been changed on remote)
As for radio, once you gain control of unit, bring up guide, press blue button and select TV. Highlighted should be on a programme currently on air, press OK to switch to that programme.

ModeratorHave not had pop up, but received info from reliable source 😉 and it appears to be correct.

ModeratorAgree with Graham, replies are confusing which is why I took no further part.
As OP now returning the unit, no point in thread remaining open.
I also take great exception to the comment re this forum.
Thread closed.

Do you mean using TV internal tuner, if so:
1. Have you connected a loop thru cable from the HDR T2 rf output to the TV.
2. RF loop thru only works if you have switched off power saving in standby on the HDR T2..
