I have not tried the latest version – if it has only been released a month ago…

But I have downloaded and used it (but not extensively) on a couple of Windows 7 boxes… and it seemed to be less buggy on this platform.

One problem I regularly get is an AWOL ‘L’ drive. For some reason this gets mapped but I never get a drive on it, and subsequently am unable to delete it (ever). With Windows 7, this happened again but uninstalling the program the L drive disappeared with it.

Not sure if disk corruption still happen or not.

I won’t be knocking instructions and posting it here, but as articles for the wiki pages… I’m just saying that won’t get this sort of ‘guide’ on other forums posts…

I suspect there aren’t many users who are new to transfering recordings from their older generation Humax boxes using the latest Windows 7 64-bit laptops! So I don’t think my pages will be up anytime soon to cater for the huge number of owners stuck of what to do!!

If you are really determined then the best way is to help yourself first… You will have to get to grips with installing Humax Media Controller, the USB drivers, and over coming Windows 7 signed drivers requirements…

If all that goes well, then you need plently of laptop and hummy time as transfers of recording takes forever via the USB connection!

    Watch this wiki link!

Try the alternative to eLinker – Andy Chappell’s Media Controller

Media Controller GUI by Andrew Smith is here:

Instructions on how to get it working on a Windows 7 64-bit is here:

    Hehe, yes I did

Only get snippets of browsing time these days. Maybe if this contract doesn’t get renewed, I may have more 😯

Nice to see some familiar names of those who’ve not posted too (see member list at the very bottom of the forum pages) :)

Thanks, I can see “Online Now” and “Online Today” only. Am I missing a “Members List”?

No, I’m just keeping an eye on who’ve just joined and who’s logged on in the lists at the bottom… ‘swedish cook’ was just one of the entries that rang a bell! 😆

The FOXSAT-HDR has been a ‘Freesat’ satellite box from the start. As such it works as designed and is very basic in non-freesat mode.

If you want a ‘non-freesat’ box you need to purchase Humax other satellite receivers…

Maybe someone clever enough might be able to modify the firmware to support scheduled timers in non-freesat mode, but currently I know of so such hacks.

Yes, a good hardware template, the FOXSAT-HDR is :) (You’ve made me want an upgrade for this box already! Bring on the FOXSAT-HDR2 now!)

What I like about new Humax products is the standard use of design, techniques, components, OS, etc. It allows those who want to tinker, upgrade, adapt, modify and enhance the product, do so with just a little effort…

I’m going to take a while to get to grips with writing in the wiki, so here’s a blog post of the upgrade: http://myhumax.org/blog/?p=22

Wow! Humax have been excellent at all aspect of this box so far…

I had HDMI issues with the HDR connected to my Samsung LCD TV, but since I’ve moved it to the kitchen and connected to my Sony LCD, I’ve not had any problems… It goes to show HMDI is a two way process involving both manufacturers in getting it right!
