You are probably trying to record 2 programmes from the same mux. If both HD programmes, trying changing one to SD channel recording.

Please can you explain why that would be necessary?

What LND do I need fixed on dish

I assume you mean LNB? A twin output LNB should do the job eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/Visiblewave-Universal-Output-FreesatTM-SkyTM-Black/dp/B081K2R353/

We only use it as a basic PVR, no streaming or remote access so the only issues we still have and would like fixing are-

    1. Not remembering where you left off when restarting playback of a recording. This is the most annoying as it just happens and requires fast forwarding to where you left off.

I agree it is annoying but I have found that it is much less likely to occur if I first pause the recording and the use the back button to exit the programme.

    2. When you start to playback a recording the Timer/Clock does not start counting meaning you can’t Pause. If spotted (it’s the first thing we look at) just restarting playback fixes it so not as annoying as 1.

I agree this is one of the most irritating problems. My experience is that after starting a recording there is often a pause before the playback starts (worse for me on HD recordings rather than SD). If you press a skip or fast forward button during the pause it often triggers this problem so my golden rule is wait for the payback to start before pressing any other buttons.

The FTP server on my Aura is temperamental. I’d like it to work every time, not having to stop and restart it several time and/or re-enter IP address.

I am surprised by that as for me it works first time every time; what FTP client are you using?

The most needed fix is the one that stops the pausing on some channels.

Remind me, which channels are affected.

I find the Freeview app crashes sometimes and won’t restart. Consequently rebooting can be a pain as the Aura doesn’t respond. It’s possible that by restarting an app other than Freeview – I can’t remember which one – it becomes possible to restart Freeview. I shouldn’t have to go through hoops to do this – or crawl on the floor to pull the mains plug.

How do you restart an app other than Freeview?

Should the fan cut in (with the box lid on) from time to time in normal operation when the ambient temperature in the room is a bit over 20C ?

I am not a Freesat expert but on some other Humax Freeview boxes the fan doesn’t kick in until the temperature is 55 C.

I believe the temp sensor is in the controller (Broadcom chip), maybe if you heated it up with the hairdryer while in operation the fan might kick in?

Several other Humax models use the temperature sensor in the hard drive.

My friend has a PVR-5000T and it shows correctly under System Information. Can anyone offer me any insight into this. I have a feeling this is not good at all.

You have bought an FVP-4000T but the good news is that it is actually very similar to the FVP-5000T. The FVP-5000T was essentially a relaunch of the FVP-4000T with improved software in an attempt to loose the poor reputation of the earlier model. It soon emerged that the FVP-4000T could run the FVP_5000T software. See https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/difference-between-4000t-5000t

The question should be are Humax addressing any of the faults the Auras own system suffers from rather than an upgrade to the Android system.

I think a fair amount of the problems that people who load additional apps have is due to the ancient version of Android currently used, so I don’t think it is a complete waste of time. I agree that some updates to the Aura software to fix the most irritating problems would be very well received.

The stuttering and pixilation during normal viewing are a bit off putting.

Under what circumstances do you get stuttering and pixelation? Not something my Aura suffers from.

Pls send some link for a compatible Wifi dongle (if I need it to connect to my Wifi)

What are you hoping to be able to do with a WiFi dongle? I think the main thing used to be BBC iPlayer but as far as I know that no longer works.

Have the exact same issue with brand new Aura box! No updates pending (app or os). However the android patch version is 2021, rather worryingly this seems to indicate it’s not been supported for 3 years!! Did anyone find a fix? I’ve emailed support to see if there is a known fix.

You have posted in a 3 year old thread. An occasional black screen isn’t unusual. Depending on the cause there are a range of solutions. What was the box doing when the black screen occurred?

Have ordered a replacement Labgear box which arrives tomorrow.

Does it have variable gain? Your observation that the Aura was always at a 100% signal strength suggests to me that the signal is too strong (causing tuner saturation) and needs attenuating.

In Filezilla’s quick connect line I have 192.168.1.252 as the Host, aura as the user, 0000 as the password and the port box is blank at the moment. Filezilla text says Connecting to 192.168.1.252:21… then Connection attempt failed with “ECONNREFUSED – Connection refused by server”.

I’ll be trying again later, time to get ready and go out now.

The other setting you need is to set the Encryption type to “Only use Plain FTP”.

Now trying to download SD recordings using Filezilla but not having much success connecting to the Aura. I have done this with an FVP-5000T in the past, this seems much trickier, as it does for others as far as I can see. I’ll keep reading the posts about it and try again.

What FTP settings are you using? I take it you have turned on FTP in settings on the Aura?
