My Samsung TV remote is controlling my 2000T, is this normal?

    It is not common usage.

I would like the TV and 2000T remotes to work just themselves.

The Samsung remote had to be used to setup the box when installed.

Why did the Samsung remote have to be used for the setup?

Not just me then! Anyone come up with a solution yet?

Have you reported it to Humax support?

Just went to check something and recordings that were made AFTER the weird glitch yesterday evening are playing Ok. Recordings BEFORE it (and there’s loads!) won’t…

I would guess the encryption key has changed; I haven’t seen this reported before on an Aura but it is a problem on some other Humax boxes. Watch and delete the recordings made after the incident and then put the box in standby and turn off the electrical power for 30s and then restart the box and see if the before recordings will play.

That’s a good shout re: the pausing and rewinding – that does not work either. I can pause, but when I resume it just jumps to the live position and I can’t take it back at all.

I suspect, based on this and what you have mentioned above, that this suggests that the internal HDD has indeed failed.

I think there is a good chance that the hard drive hasn’t failed but the file system has been damaged which is repairable. Go to Settings> Device Preferences> Storage> Hilight Internal HDD and press OK and a Format option will be offered. Obviously this will delete all recordings. If you do go this route than please let us know whether it worked.

The old drive still spins up, so put it on a Linux box, which showed a load of bad blocks. Partition table looks like linux, so ran efsck, which fixed a few things, but plan to use humaxrw and perhaps other tools to try and recover some of the files.

You can’t use humaxrw on a 5000T, it is a tool intended for use on earlier Humax PVRs that used a Humax proprietary file system. Just use standard Linux tools.

I have a 2015 Samsung TV and that does show the Data channels correctly, I’d love to get my Humax2000t boxes to play the data channels but they don’t seem able to. Any idea what’s wrong of if there’s a way round it?

The HDR-2000T doesn’t support IP channels so there is nothing you can do to make it work. Later Humax models do support IP channels.

    OS software etc

The OS is in Flash Ram not the hard drive. The missing space could be the 5% of disk space reserved for the root user. See https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/7950/reserved-space-for-root-on-a-filesystem-why

N0 im not aware of custom firmware as for apps i mean apps like you tube, bbc i player,netflix,my5 etc. the same that i have on my old humax youview box.

From that list of apps the only one that was available for the HDR-FOX T2 was iPlayer and that is no longer supported on the HDR-FOX T2. The HDR-FOX T2 is quite an old model that first became available in 2010. It is still a competent PVR but not for streaming.

For information on the custom firmware see https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Main_Page for starters.

I bought this product in May last year and have suddenly started to experience this problem. Having read the responses on this post I have a technophobe’s question (I do not connect to the internet to watch tv):

If the box is never connected to the Internet then you won’t have received updates that fix some of these problems.

Just to close this thread off, after a couple of weeks the behaviour of the Aura became so erratic that I had to do a Freeview reset and now the box is back to the usual behaviour of doing a full reboot every few days.

    Any other suggestions on this?

Report the problem to Humax support. Which transmitter do you receive from?

I have long used network drive mapping to connect my 5000T to a Windows 10 computer.

I have upgraded to Windows 11, and although it can see the 5000T, and ping it, it won’t allow me to map a network drive to it.

I think you need to enable SMB1 on the Windows 11 computer.

I’ve noticed for a while now that HD recordings are taking upto around 10 seconds to start playing. I start the recording and get a black screen until it deigns to play. It’s wildly variable, anything from 2 to 10 seconds. SD recordings start up almost instantly. Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

I certainly see a significant delay in HD recordings starting to play although I don’t think I have seen a 10 second delay.
