ParticipantIt is an unusual fault. I would try opening the box and disconnecting the hard drive and see if it will boot then. If it does then I would try formatting the disk in a PC. If it still doesn’t boot with no hard drive attached then I don’t have any other ideas.

It’s a PVR9200T – was working fine till this morning: the remote doesn’t work and neither does the unit. I’ve tried everything that I’ve found here:
1. resetting the remote
2. taking out the aerial etc.
So when you start it up with the aerial removed are you unable to get to the Menu to do a reset to default settings?

I’m finding that when the TV itself takes back control from the HDMI input, the sound suddenly blasts out at full volume, resulting in a nasty shock and a mad scramble for the volume control.
Set the volume on the Humax remote to maximum or close to it and adjust the TV volume to give the desired volume.

Hi I just spoke to the John Lewis technical department, who contacted Humax direct, and apparently its a recognised fault.
Yes there is a known problem in this area but if it is the problem Barry and I are thinking of then changing the box will not make the slightest difference (except that you will lose all your recordings). I ask again are you using padding?

I have been away on holiday for 3 weeks and set “Desperate Housewives” and “The Apprentice” to record for the whole series.
Do you have start or end padding time set?

any ideas of what to try or is it dead?
I don’t immediately recognise the symptoms. If the box is out of warranty, I would try opening the box and disconnecting the connections to the hard drive. If it will now boot then formatting the disk in a PC will probably resolve the problem.

Thanks for your reply, could you explain why the limit is 511 please ?
It is how the proprietary file system is configured.
So the next question is, does the hard drive have to be a specific type or is a standard PC drive compatable?
The drives fitted as standard comply with the CE standard for video recording drives. The hardware is the same as normal PC drives but the firmware is modified in various ways eg performance is optimised at the expense of error correction.
A standard PC drive might be expected to give some stuttering on playback if it encounters marginal sectors.

Does anyone know what is the biggest size hard drive a 9300T can take ?
I don’t know if anybody has found an upper limit but there have been reports of people fitting 1TB drives. However the maximum number of recordings you can store is limied to 511 regardless of the size of the drive.

Is it possible to turn the auto-delete feature off? If so then I suggest you do so.
Is it auto delete or background delete that is the problem (they are not the same thing)?

I have read the blog post by son_t, but can’t quite work out which channel I should change. son_t, how did you work out that you needed to use channel 57 and which channel did you substitute?
Does this help http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336 ?

Having recently purchased a Humax HDR-FOXT2 I am finding the sound level very much lower on HD recordings than on SD recordings.
Is this a feature with the FOXT2 or is there an adjustment to compensate.
What software version is the HDR using (as there have been several changes in this area of the code)?

My Humax 9200T PVR the front panel info display has dimmed.
This is a known problem and is a hardware issue. The clock board for the 9200 (that includes the display) is available from Humax as a spare part and costs a bit over £30 and isn’t particularly difficult to fit. Can’t comment on the 9300 display.

Now this Humax has gone the same way. Nonetheless I’m prepared to breathe new life into it with your help, possibly problems which some of you have encountered. Records multiples of the same programme (up to eight) but may not be the programme that was reserved.
Very well known problem; the file system is corrupt. As you correctly say the fix is to format the drive. You do this from the HDD Control item on the Record menu. Takes about three seconds.

I’ve found instructions for downloading the updates but if I download the latest, will it include all previuos updates too?
Yes; I think this is true for all the Humax PVR products. It enables you to go backwards as well as forward in software versions.
