I’m probably missing something obvious but how does one operate hd playback? I can find nothing in the manual!
Can I check that you really have a FOXSAT HD (and not HDR)? If so there is no recording capability on the HD (which rather explains why it is not in the manual).

ParticipantSounds like a manual tune would be a good idea. See http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

When you say destroying the the power supply if touching with the top off, do you mean the power supply to the machine getting damaged or power supply to the hard drive?
I mean the power supply module within the Humax.
I only ask because i was careless whilst fiddling with it and touched the hard drive when the top was off and the power turned on. Got a shock!
I am surprised you got shock from the hard drive; I would have expected the maximum voltage to be 12V.
The Humax still turns on etc, but i am a little concerned now that if i do get a new hd, the power supply may be fried?
If it turns on then the power supply is probably OK.

My hard drive has gone from my 9300t, i opened it up and took it out then put it back in and it worked momentarily.
It looks like i need a new Hard drive, Does anyone know where i would go about getting one from?
Lots of people have changed the drives. You want a drive that is designed for PVR usage such as http://www.saverstore.com/product/20029459/Seagate-Pipeline-HD-500GB-8MB-Cache-35-SATA-30Gbs-CE-Hard-Drive NB I haven’t actually used one of these so wait and see what other suggestions people who have recently done the job have to make. You know how to remove the existing drive and so it is simply a matter of replacing the old drive with new. When powered on the box will detect the new drive and offer to format it. Be very careful not to have power applied to the Humax whilst the lid is off; it is very easy to touch the power supply and destroy it.

This has happened before, so I’ve added a 2 minute padding to the end. But why would it stop recording?
Dancing on Ice which preceded Mr Selfridges overran so I guess the end of Mr Selfridges was also late. This is a situation where having no padding or more padding might have worked better.

ParticipantHave you tried power cycling the router or connecting to a different port on the router? Certainly a TalkTalk router I used in the past had a habit of occasionally refusing to route traffic from one port to the Internet; a power cycle fixed it. It sounds very like a problem on your network rather than the Humax.

I’ve upgraded from a HUMAX HDR-FOX T2 Freeview HD Recorder to a HUMAX DTR-T1000 YouView Recorder and am having some signal problems.
I don’t think everybody would agree that it is an upgrade but each to their own. Sorry I don’t have an answer to your question. Might help the DTR-T1000 experts if you state the software version.

IP address is: 192.168.2.5
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gateway address 192.168.2.1
DNS is same as gateway.
That all looks reasonable.
I tried manually changing IP to match gateway and DNS, but this did not work.
That definitely won’t work. I think your setup should be working; not sure what to suggest. I think I would suggest temporarily connecting via a network cable rather than WiFi and see if that works.

I can upload screenshots of settings menu if that helps?
Just tell us what the Humax reports for IP address, Gateway address and DNS server? Are there other wireless devices on the network?
Martin Liddle
ParticipantIn addition to Barry’s suggestion, look at your recording schedule and see if any of the reservations are for series that have finished. They will remain in the schedule for 13 weeks before being automatically deleted but you can manually delete them and free up series link slots.

2 PROBLEMS…HELP
FIRSTLY WE WENT TO WATCH PROGRAMMES WE HAD RECORDED AND WHEN WE PRESSED PLAY A BLUE SCREEN WITH ADVERTS CAME UP AND SAID IT WOULD TRY AND START OUR VIDEO…HOW DO I GET THIS OFF.
HOWEVER AS IM TYPING MY HUBBY HAS FIDDLED WITH THE MACHINE AND NOW CAN’T GET IT BACK ON TO PVR IT IS STUCK ON NETWORK SO WE CAN’T EVEN GET TO THE MEDIA GUIDE
Put it into standby and when it has become completely silent turn it off at the mains. Count to 10 and then turn it back on again.

is there anyway for us to continue using (or adapt) our FOXSAT-HDR to work with a DVB-C input?
No.

We never moved to an HD PVR as this feature disappeared.
You could plug an external modulator into the SCART port to achieve what you want eg Link to Maplins; probably something cheaper on eBay.

But, I realise that with the HD-Fox T2 model that I have its not possible to record programmes on it
I don’t think that is right. You can attach a USB disk drive, format it and then the HD will record to it.

doesn’t the external drive have to be connected to the network via the router in order to transfer the files to the PC?
No. The external drive is connected to the Humax; the Humax is connected to the router and so is the PC. If you install the custom firmware then the external drive becomes optional.
