Humax HDR Fox T-2 was good and the software could been customised by users ( reprogrammed )
I don’t think reprogrammed is the correct terminology. The existing Humax software remains in place and continues to provide the existing functionality. The custom firmware sits alongside it and adds extra functionality.

Thanks very much Martin! That’s great. I will have a go at it. I’ve looked at the readme file, and I think it’s pretty clear to me. The version number is correct. Only one question – is the login and password shown there the only one I need? That is, HumaxFTP and 0000.
To be honest, I have never owned a FOXSAT so my knowledge is limited. If you don’t get answers here, then there is a customised FOXSAT section on the https://hummy.tv.

Hi folks. I have managed to get the Foxsat-hdr connected to the ethernet, and it shows me an IP address. I can ping it from the laptop. Can anyone tell me how to connect with rlogin or mount, or at least ftp? Ideally I would like to run fsck on the hard drive to make sure it’s not corrupted (there’s a place where it hangs up on playback).
You need to install the custom firmware for the Foxsat-HDR (don’t get confused with custom firmware for the Freeview HDR-FOX T2) from Link to FOXSAT custom firmware.

It’s been happening for a few months but only on BBC1 on certain programmes in the evening usually. The recordings were in SD.
Please could you give a few examples of programmes that failed ie, name of programme, date and time. Do you know which transmitter you are receiving from, if not please supply the first part of your postcode.

Myself and my Mother both have 1800T machines but for some reason many of the BBC1 programmes are failing to record. This is happening on both machines.
How long has this been happening for? Are you recording SD or HD BBC1?

Tried to run BBC iPlayer but ‘service not available on this system’ message. That’s something for later as I have iPlayer by another route.
I think iPlayer support on the HDR-2000T ended some months ago.

But leaving the Humax 1100s alone seems to have given it time to reboot properly. So folks, it’s worth giving your Humax plenty of time before scrapping it.
You will find that the problem returns in due course.

I have just had a Humax Aura and had an issue with it appearing with an HDMI error message about 15 minutes into watching Amazon Prime. I have bought new 4k HDMI leads. Last night it was fine but tonight it has come up with the same error message. This time it was 2 hours into watching.
Please could you tell us what the error message was?
I am running a Hue sync box through it and wondered if this was the issue.
I have never used a sync box but the obvious experiment is to temporarily remove it and see if the problem persists.

The Tuner side of this machine is working OK but I can’t access the hard drive. It keeps telling me it needs re-formatting, but I’ve a lot of films on there I don’t want to lose.
Are these repairable?
The only way to find out the real status of the hard drive is to take it out of the Humax and attach it to a PC and look at the SMART data that the records the status of the hard drive. Two main possibilities, either the drive is end of life and needs replacing or the drive has a fixable file system problem.

I have just ordered a T2 that has older 1.02xx firmware. Do I need to update factory firmware to 1.03xx before flashing latest custom or just install the 1.02 version. I would like iPlayer to work if possible. Or indeed can I just flash the latest 1.03 directly.
As far as I know you can just flash the 1.03.12_mod_3.13 custom firmware package. I am not sure whether you will get iPlayer working.

As a new member using a 5000 I suffer from missing epg. I use the sandy heath transmitter. This has only started in the last couple of months. Tried updating channels and the software. Is Humax aware that there’s a problem?
I suspect Humax UK support have been contacted by enough people to be aware of the problem but whether management want to spend money to fix the problem is a different matter. If you look at the posts immediately above yours you will see a work around has been found by users that involves deleting channels.

When I previously had a Virgin box and set up a series link it would pick up a new series when it started. The Aura does not seem to do this so that where a programme has a break between one series and the next it loses the link which is frustrating and I often miss the beginning of the next series. Any ideas or solutions to this, or have I missed something?
I don’t think the Aura has the ability to pick up a new series nor do any of the other Humax Freeview boxes.

I did the Factory Reset and HDD formatting and the problem persists.
As the reset didn’t work is it possible that the hard drive is knackered?
Yes it is possible. The best way to check is to open the FVP and remove the hard drive and connect it to a PC with a USB to SATA converter, note that if the drive is 3.5″ you will need the type of adapter that provides a 12V supply. Having connected it use Crystal Diskinfo (free download) to get the SMART data which will allow us to tell you the health of the drive.
