There are several recorded programs, mostly on BBC, so could watch on Catch-up maybe, if I am to factory reset it.
You won’t lose recordings doing a factory reset unless you specifically ask for the hard drive to be cleared.

As far as I was aware, connection to 5ghz wifi is possible?
However, my 4000t does not recognize the 5ghz (no problem on 2.4).
My recollection is that the 5GHz WiFi was one of the few hardware changes introduced on the FVP-5000T so I am not surpised that a 4000T will not do 5GHz.

My 9300 behaves as normal when watching/recording but when I leave it on for a period and then switch the tv on I get the att. I switch off and reboot all is well. My signal strength is good, the picture on the tv is good,no blocking.
Please tell us what the signal strength and quality is as reported by the Humax. Like everyone else I don’t understand what you mean by “att”, please enlighten us.

My computer is a Mac (currently running High Sierra if that is in any way relevant).
Yes that is very relavent.
What I want to be able to do is to download recordings from my Humax, save them to my computer and watch them away from home.
None of the recordings are HD. I can categorically state that they are all SD.
I have set up the Humax so I can see it in my Finder window and I can see all the files that are on there. I have downloaded one recording (the .TS file, not all the other files that came with it). My Finder window tells me that the recording has downloaded and takes up 2.17GB.
Sorry I am not familiar with Finder; will that be using SAMBA for the connection. If so I wouldn’t expect content to be decrypted. With Windows 8 and upwards a mechanism is used that allows the content to be decrypted whilst downloading. I am busy for the rest of the day but will try and research exactly what is going on and post an answer when I have. Once you know the mechanism it is then a case of finding a suitable client. Unless of course another Mac user already knows the answer?
A temporary workaround would be to copy content from the Humax to a USB memory stick or a USB hard drive which will decrypt the content.

As recommended, I disconnected the hard drive and switched on again but it still won’t boot and just displays PVR-9300T on the display. Is there anything else I can try now that Plan A has not worked for me?
I have a vague notion that there was a system flush file for the 9300T which would be the only other thing to try. Anybody have a copy?

1. To make sure there was no transmission problem I changed to the affected channel I could watch the programme. I didn’t see if the recording started but I didn’t get a message it could not start.
2. I manually set the recording up instead of selecting it from the guide
3. I set a reminder to see if that would work and it did.
Are you using accurate recording (ie no start and finish padding)? If so are you confident that your box is correctly tuned to a single transmitter?

The Humax drive is 2.5″ and the cable fitted perfectly. Just no response.
Are you sure it is a 2.5″ drive? What is the model number of the drive please?

Is the drive you took out of the Humax a 2.5″ drive? In my experience they are usually 3.5″ drive and the adapter on your link is for 2.5″ drives because it doesn’t supply 12V. Something like https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-Cable-Standard-Connector-Drives/dp/B07SGP11KB/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=usb+to+sata+adapter&qid=1571664757&sr=8-7 should work.

I’ve removed the HDD from my 9300T and have a SATA to USB cable attaching it to my PC.
What type of SATA to USB adapter are you using? It MUST supply 12V; there are a lot of adapters around that are intended for 2.5″ drives or SSD drives that do not require 12V.

Yes, and that’s why I want to put it back to what was working fine previously.
Have you tried briefly unplugging the powerline ethernet adapters; they do sometimes get confused.

I Have tried humaxrw software but it does not find the drive when it is connected via usb.
Humaxrw is only useful for the 9000 series PVRs that use a proprietary file system. All the more recent box use a Linux file system. As Luke says a Linux Live boot CD (or memory stick) should do the trick. Does the Humax boot without the hard drive?

ParticipantIf you are seeing corrosion, have you carefully checked that water isn’t getting into the cables? Water getting into the tuners will destroy them but otherwise I don’t think tuner failures are common.

Hello, I’m trying to do this now (2019!) but cannot find a copy of humaxrw that I’m able to download. I’m complete novice by the way…
Look at the FAQ section for the 9300T see https://myhumax.org/forum/forum/9150t-9200t-9300t-pvr039s You will see posts about humaxrw and the GUI front end. If you scroll down to the end of the posts you will find links to download them.

And… it’s still doing it
Try the long cable again and if that fixes the problem for a reasonable period of time then you know where the problem is.
The firmware utility showed the new version as installed OK, but in fact it hasn’t – still at the original version. Mine are actually V1 adapters, so I guess the new firmware doesn’t work with them
V2 firmware will definitely not work with V1 adapters.
Guess the problem is likely with the adapters then. Oh well, they were very cheap.
Don’t jump to conclusions yet; do the long cable test.

I’d totally forgotten that (I moved 2 years ago). I suppose they may be the most likely culprit then… they’re TPlink AV500 Mini.
Is the model number TL-PA411 V2? If so what firmware version? The version dated 21-08-13 sounds relevant to quote TP-LINK web site”Fixed a bug that IPTV may interrupt for several seconds when STB(Set Top Box) is linked to this Powerline adapter.”
