As far as I was aware, connection to 5ghz wifi is possible?

However, my 4000t does not recognize the 5ghz (no problem on 2.4).

Am I missing something? Is there any way to force connection?

All my other devices recognize the 5ghz and work.

    Cheers

Does it actually have 5GHz capability? I can’t find any spec that says it does.

I don’t know about the 4000T, but the 5000T certainly supports 5 GHz.

My recollection is that the 5GHz WiFi was one of the few hardware changes introduced on the FVP-5000T so I am not surpised that a 4000T will not do 5GHz.

Definitely supports 5ghz according to customer services. I can’t get it to see the 5ghz network at all though.

    Did you resolve this?

I’ve had similar issues on other devices and has to force them to use 5ghz. I had to split the WiFi signal (option in router control panel) and turn off the 2.5ghz WiFi – them connect a device to the 5ghz then turn on the 2ghz again with a different WiFi name.

I obviously need 2ghz for some of my devices (smart plugs) that are not 5ghz supported.

I didn’t resolve the it but found out the reason.

My internet/wifi is all via my data allowance on my mobile phone. I use the hotspot facility and although it has the option to change the broadcast channel for 2.4ghz, the channel is fixed for 5ghz. My phones 5ghz channel is 149. Not all devices are compatible with this channel.

I am guessing that this is the case with my 4000t.

Channel 149 is a Band C channel and these were only made generally available in 2017 so perhaps not surprising that not supported by the FVP WiFi module. There is a very detailed paper at http://bowdennetworks.co.uk/downloads/5GHz%20in%20the%20UK%20White%20Paper%20v3.0.pdf summarising the 5GHz Wifi situation in the UK. I certainly didn’t appreciate how complex a subject it is.
