I am trying to map my Humax 1000s drive on my pc.

    The drive is not recognised.

I can access the drive of my old foxsat Humax.

    Can anyone suggest a fix?

Have you installed the optional depreciated Win10 component to enable SMB support.

Checked SMB enabled, tried changes suggested on line such as to the registry, adaptor changes and windows features.

    Still not recognising.

Have ordered a WiFi dongle so will see if that works.

I missed the fact that you had a hdr-1000S and not a Foxsat with custom firmware.

The HDR-1xx0S models do not share the drive.

    That’s a shame

I was hoping to transfer my old foxsat videos to the 1000s.

I suppose I could take the foxsat hard drive out, out it in a disc carrier and connect it to the usb port of the 1000s?

Would this be possible with a Humax 1100. Don’t they have built-in wi-fi?

There are possibilities – do you have the custom firmware installed on the Foxsat, if so with one of the components for media sharing installed you can play them on the HDR-1000S if both units connected to your network. The HDR-1000S will see shared media on the network but does not share it’s media.

If you do have the custom firmware and also installed a patch (I can’t say more here) by nowster you can also play normally encrytped HD files.

Without custom firmware you can transfer SD recordings via a USB stick.

The HR-1000s will store this in a separate partition from normal recordings.

The HDR-1000S will also see shared media on your PC (via Media player).

Via Home > Humax > Enter > Media Share

So you could copy your Foxsat media to your PC so you do not need to have it on.

If you are attempting to stream HD files that are not encrypted. You need to convert them using convertfiles. Otherwise the g2 box will play back the audio described track.

Unless you have lots of free drive space don’t bother using the back up files before conversion. Never lost a single file due to conversion.

The picture quality of HD is actually improved as it bypasses the Foxsat somewhat soft decoder.

    Thanks

I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth updating to the newer humax’s?

Can’t map the drive and no folders

I would not say no folders – Series are kept together somehow. Folders would be the logical way to do this. It is just you cannot see them.

Well you do get the on demand stuff working, plus a better picture.

We all regret freesat’s decision not to permit sharing even on a non-routable lan.

I am trying to access my recordings from the hard drive in my foxsat which is connected to WiFi.

I have mapped the drive and I have shared it and placed it in the media player library.

Viewing on the 1000s home ,Humax, media share I can see the files but can’t play them.

I also went into the custom firmware and downloaded a sample file to my pc.

I shared this and can see it on the 1000s but when I try to play I get an unsupported format error.

    Any suggestions welcome
