InactiveHi everyone. The reset pin number topic has been done to death of course but I have what Humax support have described as a “unique” issue.
I have inherited this HRD-1000S from my late mother in law and discovered it had a pin number set.
I have been through the process of hitting the RGYBGYB on the system info to access the hidden menu and used the reset pin option. after a pause (maybe 1 or 2 minutes) i get a message saying “Current pin does not match” and so the pin remains set to whatever it is.
I have upgraded to the latest firmware etc. I have spoken with Humax support and the only suggestion thye can offer is to try downgrading to an old version of the firmware.
So my questions to the community are as follows:
has anyone got an old version of the 1000S firmware, the older the better I guess?
Secondly, anyone else seen this issue and resolved it?
Thanks everyone for your time.
Steve

InactiveSo…rolling back to July 2017 didn’t help. Think it’s time to get a new box.

Sadly- I have to agree. Other than trying some not very secure pin’s that an elderly person might have used. Clearly you have used the default 0000
Seems unlikely a elderly relative would have used a PIN to restrict content to adult content.
1234, 4321, fortunately the permutations are relatvely small. How about the date of birth of the relative that those of us with advanced age can remember
in dd/mm/yy format.

The very long pause suggests to me an un-trapped error in writing to NVRAM.
You did not mention how did you discovered it had a pin set. Recording delete / parental controls?

InactiveTried the usual permutations of pin codes. I tend to agree that they were unlikely to have set a pin, but that said my mother in law had a brain tumor so random things could have happened. All that said, I am suspicious that soemthing is fundamentally “broken” and rather than there bein a pin number set, it is just corrupt or something.
With regards to the question of how I discovered the pin was set. I tried to access NetFlix and it it asked me for a pin number.

ParticipantBarry has cleverly suggested that applying a default update file which resets the box to as delivered might fix the problem. I may have a copy on some back up usb drives but as going away shortly and not back till Sunday I can’t have a look till Sunday.

InactiveThanks Graham,
That would be great. Have a good weekend.

InactiveHi guys
Amazingly, I have the same problem with a HDR-1000s! How did you fix it? I get the same error up, current pin does not match and can’t reset it. It had an older level of firmware on which I’ve just updated to the current level (07 Feb 18), but I still can’t reset it.
Cheers,
Dave
