    Hello…

does anyone know whether the iPlayer app on the FVP-5000T Freeview Play Recorder can handle UHD (Ultra High Definition) transmissions from the BBC?

(if not, is it the 5000T iPlayer app which is lacking, or is it the 5000T itself which cannot handle UHD?)

    Thanks.

I suspect not because according to the FVP-5000T specifications the best video resolution is 1080p.

Thanks very much Martin. My cursory searching had not revealed a definitive answer, and – rather to my shame – I had not thought about maximum resolution:-(

My curiosity was piqued by the BBC’s Wimbledon broadcasts, and – to be honest – I am struggling to notice a significant difference between streaming the UHD transmission direct to my LG 55inch tele, and the HD I get through the 5000T.

(But I did notice that streaming to the LG 55 inch offered a specific UHD option, whereas streaming via the 5000T did not)

At the moment, then, I am inclined to think that the difference between High Definition and Standard is much, much greater than the difference between Ultra High Definition and High Definition.

I guess that that difference will be greater, and therefore more noticeable, for (much) larger teles than 55inches?

    Cheers
