InactiveHaving been an owner of a humax for 4/5 years and still impressed with the product I have recently(yesterday) purchased a HDR 1000S. All I have done with the Humax is record and play now I want to go into the realms of transferring recordings from my Foxsat HDR to the new machine. After reading threads as guest on this site it seems very complicated and I would really have to be spoon fed on the ways of the dark side of transferring the recordings. If there is an Obi One Kanobi out there who could help or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
I do not think I am alone in this matter when we have purchased a new humax pvr

ParticipantHi welcome to the forum. Firstly this is only possible for SD recordings as HD ones will be encrypted. The straightforward way is simply copy recordings to a usb drive delete any files with a .nts and .hmt file extension leaving only the .ts files. By connecting the drive to the HDR1000S you can either play these back direct from the usb device or upload then to the boxes hard drive. This will only work with files up to 4GB in size with a FAT32 formatted USB stick. The Foxsat doesn’t work with NTFS drives, for files larger than this you need Linux EXT2/EXT3 formatted drives.
The more complex but more convenient way is to install the Custom Firmware on the Foxsat-HDR. This will allow you to play back the recordings stored on the Foxsat without moving them at all using the HDR1000s DLNA client software. Of course both boxes will need to be connected to a home network. The CF will also let you copy files directly to a PC which means you can now copy directly to a NTFS drive on your PC. The HDR1000s will work with NTFS drives.

InactiveHi Graham, thanks for the reply excuse me if I ask some daft questions but please bear with me. OK I have a 8gb stick how do I know it is in the correct format(fat32), cannot connect both boxes to the network(will be running 1 cable in today). When you stated that HD recorded programs cannot be copied does that mean when Custom Firmware is loaded as well. I think that most of the recordings are HD and the best way is to watch them in another room and clear them off when watched and use the usb stick to copy the programs not in HD.

ParticipantIt will in all probability already be FAT32. (In windows (file) explorer right click on the device icon and choose properties). The CF cannot decrypt existing recordings. Check for a PM
