Having Googled about for a while, I have seen others with this problem, but most of the posts appear to be related to other models. I couldn’t find ‘Custom Firmware’ that related to the HDR7500T.

Here’s the top result when searching for: humax deleting loop

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/permenant-deleting

As described in that post, I am unable to pause or rewind live TV. New recordings fail. Existing recordings play fine. Settings>System>Installation appears greyed out, etc.

What I have done so far, all resulting in no change to the problem:

    1. Powered off. Powered on. (shut up and reboot ;) )
    2. Disconnected Mains Power for 5 mins. Powered on.
    3. Downgraded firmware to 1.07.00 as per https://support.icetv.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/227081107-How-do-I-downgrade-the-Humax-software-to-version-1-07-00
    4. Re-Upgraded to 1.08.29 using https://au.humaxdigital.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2016/10/HDR_7500T_upgrade.hdf
    5. Originally using firmware 1.08.29 when the problem occurred.

I am comfortable with telnet and such. Also, I could physically remove the HDD and work on the drive directly in a PC if anyone has any tips on that.

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Douglas

    Questions:

Does the system see the hard-disk?

If so have you tried formatting it?

Failure to pause/rewind points to buffer file corruption

Assuming there is space on the hard-disk new recordings failing is more worrying also suggestion a reformat attempt.

Hi there and thanks for the quick response.

The system does see the HDD, existing recordings play/ff/rew fine.

I am unable to attempt the format suggestion, as the “Data Storage” option in Settings is disabled / greyed out.

I’m thinking of replacing the drive in order to cause a “factory default” condition hopefully prompting the “initial setup wizard”.

    Cheers,

    Douglas

You could also try removing the drive, connecting it to a windows OS and using disk management (under computer management) to delete all the existing partitions, before reinstalling.

    Hoorah Blackadder !

I popped the lid and swapped out the original Seagate 1TB HDD and replaced with a Hitachi 1TB drive. I had deleted all partitions from the Hitachi drive.

Upon power-up, a message came up saying I need to format, which I did.

Now the unit is working properly, LiveTV Pause, new recordings, access to all menus.

…Now to transfer the contents of the old drive via ethernet / FTP.

Sidenote: Interesting airflow/fan shroud with shock absorbing mounts.
