InactiveMy HDR Fox T2 seems to have got very lethargic recently about loading some channels. Once I’ve pushed the remote buttons, some channels take several to appear on the screen. Meanwhile, the screen stays blank or keeps showing alternately the messages ‘wide’ and ’14:9′
Any comments would be very welcome.

InactiveTry the usual first,
take a note of your recording schedule, camera phone etc. put into standby, wait for the disk to spin down (go quiet) can take a few minutes, power off at plug, wait 20 seconds, power back up, go into the menu and reset the box without format, set up timers and preferences as necessary. This usually solves around 50% or more of problems.
let us know how you get on and if there are still problems let us know how full the disk is along with any other relevant information

InactiveMany thanks for commenting, Damian, but I am too new to this technology to understand some of the terms you use, e.g. when you say “take note of your recording schedule”, I assume this means that the machine is going to forget what programmes I’ve asked to be recorded and I’ll need to tell it again when I’ve finished resetting it. Is that right?
Also, when I go into the menu (which sounds like just pressing the relevant button) will it be obvious to me how to ‘reset the box without format’ I.e. will it be just a matter of pressing the appropriately named buttons?

you’ll lose the schedule along with any preferences. A camera phone or tablet or digital camera, anything like that is useful to take a snapshot or note of the schedule, or just jot it down if necessary.
I don’t have the box in front of me, but it’s fairly easy something along these lines…
menu, settings, installation (pin 0000), reset or default setting – just make sure you don’t format the drive. It’ll reboot and go through initial setup, re-tune etc. which takes a few minutes. Once you’re back up and running you’ll need to reprogram the recording schedule and set any preferences.
This should solve the problems, if it doesn’t let us know

thanks for the feedback, glad all is okay now, it’s useful to reboot and reset once in a while (not too often), particularly if there are problems. The HdrFoxT2 is a reliable box and well supported
To the powers that be…
We really could do with FAQ’s having at number 1, ‘what to do if you’re experiencing problems’ or before starting a new thread, for each product, reboot/power-cycle, factory reset, software update, check FAQ’s/search and if that hasn’t helped, report back with software version, age, how connected cable/wifi, free disk capacity, etc. etc. plus any other relevant info.
