InactiveAfternoon all. I’ve got my Aura this week, and I’m still finding my way around it.
First of all Some time in the near Future I’m expecting to have to run a retune.
Is there a Smart retune like my previous 5000t, which didn’t remove the recording schedule.
Or, do I have to reinstate the schedule every time I do an auto retune ?
Secondly, How do I check for system updates, or is the only way is just wait,
and it checks, & installs automatically ,as & when they become available.?
I cant find any info on Both of the above points.
Many Thanks for your Help on these Questions.
This is my second attempt with the Aura.
My first one was returned for a refund back when they were first released.

InactiveWith reference to the first question, why don’t you just go into the tuning menu and see what options you are presented with? You don’t have to complete the retune just because you have looked at the options.

InactiveThanks SSThing, I went into the I clicked on the retune option,
However it just started to prepare, an start a retune. At that point I stopped it.
Perhaps I was a bit Hasty, I’ll have another look in a day or two.
I’ll let you know the result then.
But Thank you for your time to reply.

InactiveThe other day did a retune, and everything was as before. If there was an update(change) of channels from the transmitter, it would be different. In settings there is a back-up and restore of recording settings, favourite settings.

InactiveThere is an option to backup your settings which includes Apps, recording schedule etc. so once you have done your retune you can just import your settings. Not sure how it works if there is a mix change, but its a great option.
Every time I make a change I do a backup, just so I know I have every backup in case anything happens.

InactiveMany Thanks Harters, for your reply. I do appreciate it.
I found what you suggested ok.
However. I’m today returning my Aura for a refund.
We are on the very outer edge of the Heathfield Transmitter.
I’ve spent all my time trying to get the very sensitive tuners to stop Pixelating.
It’s funny because my 5000t hasn’t had this problem. I just fancied an upgrade.
In desperation I got a very reliable firm to check my signal strength on it.
The HD channels were fine, However the standard definition channels were very unstable.
They have seen this many times, always with the Aura.
Even fitting an attenuer didn’t work on 85% AS our area is on the edge.
He said It is the funnelling system the Aura uses that makes it over sensitive.
So, Aura is a no go for us.
Finally, on contacting Humax their suggestion was to switch over to free sat.
It would have cost us upto £250 including twin cabling. So that’s a no go as we can’t get all the free sat channels in our area. It’s a shame as I really liked the android system on it.
So It’s back to my 5000t until Humax brings out a new box.
(hopefully not so sensitive as the Aura.

InactiveI think you will be waiting a long time I’m afraid for them to launch a new box.

InactiveIT’s usually between 2, & 3 years.
Or It was between theT2, 4000t, 5000t, and the aura.
I’ll just wait until any new one has been out for 12 months before getting interested, and see what the reviews and problems are before deciding.

InactiveThat’s a shame as the Aura is a great box in my experience.
The pixelation issues was a worry for me, but so far I have not experienced any. My signal quality on the main channels is around 90%, but not one issue. At the other extreme on 111 QVC HD the signal is around 50%, but again not a single issue. Signal quality on all channels is 100%.
I never watch any SD channels usually, have looked at some just out of curiosity and they seem to be okay too.
From reading on here it does seem that some people have returned boxes and got another and their problems have gone away, could that be an option?

InactiveThere have been others, me included, who had pixelation issues and got a new box which had no issues. The pixelation for me was on SD channels. Can you try the following. 1) switch to an SD channel that normally has pixelation 2) reboot the box (full shutdown/restart) but keep on the same channel when it reboots. Do not change channels. Leave for 5 mins or so. 3) if no pixelation change channel and then back again to same channel and see if pixelation occurs.

InactiveThanks for that.
However, This is the second Aura I’ve had.
When I spoke to Humax, The best suggestion was Buy a freesat model, with the refund that I requested.
The trouble with that is,
My Quote for a satellite dish installation with2 leads was upto £250.

InactiveI Have tried to do a Hard reboot, remaining on Ch 1 several times
Allas, to no effect. It’s now packaged up ready for collection.
My Philosophy is.
To try any new thing twice, over. This is my second Aura
So now I will wait for a new model to come out for at least 1 year.
I’ll keep checking on here to see the reviews & updates before I try it.
Many Thanks to EVERY one who have come forward with advise It is appreciated.
I’ve had enough of an ear bashing from the other half, on unwatchable recordings.
