I read a report that the 5000T is discontinued.

Are we in the last gasps of PVRs?

Aura, and Manhattan not yet here, appear the only options.

Am I right in thinking “the industry” wants to take us all down the route of streaming?

    I think it’s a combination of factors.

    Fewer people watching linear TV

Those who do watch don’t record

There’s little need for a library of recorded shows (1 there’s not much watching 2 You can see most of it online)

Probably the biggest factor, the over 65 are the fastest growing group of new streaming subscribers.

As the lines between streaming and linear TV blur (the latest Freeview specification treats streaming just like linear TV, so if you can’t receive a channel through the aerial it will put the streaming version on the same channel number)

The result is that TV recorders of all types are becoming a nice producr.

I think you’ll find that Humax are concentrating production on the Aura.

They did the very same thing on the T2, &2000 models.

They seem to do it every time, in order to boost sales of the new models.

until recently you could get earlier models that seemed to disappear, then reappear.

The only one that the haven’t brought back so far is the 4000t.

    However time will tell.

I know that Manhattan are working on the new T4R models, as they’ve retired the T3,

from production to make way for what is supposed to be the new improved one.
