As I was having problems with my remote – difficult to find correct place to point at when fast forwarding, playing etc. I inserted new batteries.
As that didn’t help, I found humax forum that said they were advised by humax to:
1.With batteries out Press & Hold the Power Button on top left corner for 2 minute. This completes a static discharge.
2.Batteries back in Press & Hold the OK & 0 buttons for 10 seconds.
You will see a message on screen. Immediately press number 2.
This put remote into Mode 2.
If you don’t see a message on screen repeat until you do.
I did the above and now I can’t get the pvr to work at all – it keeps taking me to page saying no HDMI – go to source. When I do that on my TV remote it goes back to same page. I have tried unplugging, removing wires etc. I can turn on the box at the box, but remote won’t change channels ‘ it will only turn tv off or on!

I have just followed the procedure for a 3rd time and managed to get it working!
The keys (on any remote control) become intermittent after much use because of dirt, oil, sweat etc collecting on them.
See Disassemble remote control to fix intermittent keys for how to fix it – it’s very easy to do and just needs washing up liquid.
