    Hello,

last week my remote control started to play up and when I pressed any button the box was slow to respond, so I changed the batteries but no good this did not fix the issue, so I reset the remote control after I had done this the remote control does not turn the FVP 5000T box at all,

I brought a replacement remote control but still have the same issue the remote control will not turn the FVP5000T box on.

I have a BT YOUVIEW box and the remote control for the FVP5000T

box will turn the BT YOUVIEW box on.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Try disconnecting the box from the mains electricity supply for a few minutes. It may help.

Perhaps you had changed the remote control mode for the FVP so that it didn’t interfere with the Youview box, see this link for instructions https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-fvp-remote

    Hello

I will unplug the box from the mains and leave the box overnight.

Also how do you change the remote control mode if the remote control does not turn the box on.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

Have you tried switching it on with the button on the top surface of the box?

Yes I have tried switching the box on with the button on the top of the surface of the box and it worked.

I’ve a Humax FVP 5000, all functions on the remote control work except on/off, I have to press the button on the machine. The batteries are OK.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to take the remote apart and clean the contacts.

Once you have it apart, you probably don’t need to peel off the foil cover from the central block of buttons, they don’t usually get mucky as they are better covered.

I have cleaned the other contacts with a clean cotton bud. There may be fluids you can use, but I have not tried any. The rubber contacts should not be at all shiny when you are finished.

Thanks for that. How do you get it apart? I can’t see any screw heads in the battery compartment.

You have to prise the two halves apart with a blade. It is quite fiddly, but possible. There are various unseen clips holding them together.

But mind your fingers with the blade. Don’t want you to cut yourself, especially during Christmas.

There are plenty of vids on YouTube showing how to open a Humax remote and you may find your exact model and how to clean it. I prefer not to use a cutting knife to prevent damage to the remote and myself and found that a filler knife worked well.
