InactiveHello,
I have had to buy a new Humax FVP 5000T box, I have removed the hard drive and installed my previous hard drive that has all my recordings on, the issue is that the new FVP 5000T does not play the recordings that are all ready recorded on the hard drive.
Is there a way to fix this ?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

InactiveEach FVP-5000T encrypts its own recordings using a unique key. Your new FVP-5000T does not know the unique key of your older box and therefore cannot play them.

InactiveHi Luke,
Thanks for getting back to me,
Is there a way to copy the key from the old box to the new box ?
Thanks

Someone may know otherwise, but I think almost certainly not, I am afraid.

What went wrong with the old box? I think you have more chance of getting that to work so that SD recordings can be decrypted than the possibility of finding a way to decrypt the recordings.

InactiveDoes the new remote that came with the new box not operate the old box.
Did you ever change the remote mode on the old box. I seem to remember that you may have done this
from other questions you have asked.
When you say that Humax have tried everything what is everything, and did you send it back to Humax
or were you following instructions given by e-mail?

InactiveHello,
the issue with the old box is fixed, took the old box to a freeview shop that repairs freeview boxes, I gave them the remote control that came with the new box and it worked.
Thanks

InactiveA Freeview shop that repairs Freeview boxes, that’s very specific, never heard of such a place.
What exactly did they fix, did they tell you what was wrong with the old box or was it the old boxes remote control.
Are you down to one working remote control and two 5000T boxes.

InactiveIt was the old remote control that had gone, the new remote control now works both boxes.

InactiveSo this Freeview shop that repairs Freeview boxes didn’t actually do anything.
The new remote control of course would have operated both boxes.
With the old remote does the red light round the power button light up when you press any of the buttons.
The 5000T remote is a bit clunky and sometimes you really need to press hard on the buttons on older remotes.

Recording the post on the various threads it looked that the remote and the old box just needed syncing to the same mode.
Except it’s not a “just” as there is also a youview box in the same room which uses mode 1. Looking at the older post by the OP the issue with the modes and/or youview box keeps on needing a reminder for how things are setup to work both without any interference between the freeview and youview remotes.

InactiveI have seen the various other posts where there was a conflict between the YouView box and the 5000T,
and it was suggested to the OP that the mode on the 5000T would have been changed to resolve that problem.
From what I remember from the older posts the OP had bought replacement remotes presumably non Humax that couldn’t operate the old 5000T as these remotes only operate in mode 1 and the mode cannot be changed.
I think it had been suggested that the OP would need to change the mode so the new 5000T remote would operate the old box, this is probably what the “Freeview shop that repairs Freeview boxes” has done and probably charged for it.
