InactiveThis is a bit messy but I’ll try to summarise. Humax Aura 2TB recently playing up, with all the well trailed reboots and broken sound. Also failing to record all the programmes set to record.
Freeview reset achieved nothing, so tried the factory reset (which shows a screen assuring you that programmes recorded will not be deleted). Yet to discover whether it solves the reboot problem and the failing to record problem, but what it has very delightfully done is deleted pretty much every programme recorded apart from 19. All the films gone, all the masses of other stuff – just 19 pretty nondescript (but obviously very special To Humax) programmes left of two years worth of recordings.
What’s even more annoying is that the drive is still 60% full – even though it very plainly isn’t – at least not with anything I can access.
There’s a clear warning here not to rely on the screen telling you that your recordings are safe on a factory reset – they aren’t.
Anyone found a way to get them back perhaps? The main reason for not returning the thing to Richer Sounds or Humax as faulty was the loss of all those recordings, and now they’re gone anyway.

InactiveIf your factory reset didn’t involve a disk format there’s a good chance the recordings still exist but are hidden. Unfortunately you will need the VLC app to find them and you’ll have to navigate to an obscure folder on the internal HDD to find them. In VLC goto Browsing/ Internal HDD/ Android/ data/ com.humaxdigital.corona.tvinput.freeview/ files/ recordings – scroll down the page to find a folder that matches what you are looking for, enter the folder and find a file with the same name – that is your recording. You should be able to play it. You cannot do anything else with it. To delete (and recover your “missing” disk space)- you will need to reformat the disk!

That’s interesting – thanks. The odd thing is that when I tested this on another identical Humax the recordings remained intact.

InactiveProbably HD recordings will be there but unplayable.

InactiveEveryone told me a factory reset wouldn’t delete files – but mine went missing. I convinced myself I used the wrong reset – there is a factory reset and a reset (as well as Freeview reset). It’s possible I did reset. If you did factory reset I may have misremembered!

Inactiveno wonder the forum is closing if Humax read any the posts they must realize the Humax aura isn’t fit for purpose what a waste of over £200 mine has never worked as it should fed up of rebooting I Have fitted new aerial to try to stop it pixelating without success it works fine on SD channels when I reboot until I change channels but then back to pixelating again all I wanted was a recorder box to replace my subscription to virgins 360 box.

When I spoke to them a couple of weeks ago, they said that the long awaited update is almost ready to release after its live testing. (mentioned elsewhere here). We’ll see…….

If your recordings are HD, VLC can’t play them because they are encoded. The filenames end with _enc.ts. SD files will play OK.

I agree, doca When I enquired whether a replacement forum is suggested,my thread was immediately shut down. Pity really, because it is a good resource.
Anyway, having upgraded the power supply things have improved, but it has now decided not to record programmes on another channel.Signal is good, and available from the same aerial via the tv but it doesnt record the programme on the Aura No idea why…..

Have you checked that lately? There was a problem with Freeview over the period late October/early November which prevented SD recordings from happening on most channels. It’s now been resolved, but it created a serious problem for Humax owners.

Which channel is giving you problems and which transmitter are you receiving from?

InactiveMy main problem at the moment is with UK Drama and we are receiving from the Heathfield transmitter.
ITV Quiz was previously a problem but seems to have improved since upgrading the power supply.
