ModeratorAnyone know if the epg can be made to display only your favourite channels ?

ModeratorFavourites – You can set 1 favourites list simply a matter of highlighting the channel logo in the guide and pressing OK for options or via freesat channels menu in settings.
In addition I have received the following responses to question I put to Humax:
Padding – Auto padding option is available from the General Settings menu – options are 2, 5, and 10 minutes pre and post padding.
Folders – Series recordings are automatically stored in folders, there is no manual folders option. Recordings can also be filter by Most Recent, Still to Watch, TV Series, Kept, Deleted Soon, and A-Z
Multiple select for delete – No, but deleting is almost instantaneous on this unit.
Skip function – Yes, options are instant replay 7, 15, and 30 seconds – skip forward 30, 60, and 120 seconds
Wi-Fi – The HDR-1000S can be used with a Humax WiFi dongle, unfortunately we cannot 100% confirm if this will be supported at launch, if it is not it will be supported shortly after launch.
Manual Timers – Yes
Auto delete – User configurable on/off in General Settings menu
Resolution change – Yes
Display Format change – Yes
Content sharing via home network – From launch you will be able to use the HDR-1000S as a client device (so you will be able to access content from a shared device in your home (PC, Laptop, NAS, HDR-FOX T2). We plan to include the server functionality at a later date.
Record on demand – No
Will DiSEqC switches be supported: Yes, during installation of the product it can detect the DiSEqC input required. The HDR-1000S will support DiSEqC 1.0 and 2.0
Will Motorise Systems be supported: Unfortunately not from launch. We are planning to support DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS at a later date.
Will SCD (Single Cable Distribution) be supported: Unfortunately not from launch, we do plan to support SCD a few months after the product is released.

Now that is one feature I would like to see them retrofit to the Foxsat HDR. Is it really instantaneous or just does it in the background without limiting other usage?

ParticipantAny chance of finding out if you can record the timeshift buffer (retrospectively from the beginning of the current programme (if present) ?

Similar to your Youview unit in that respect.

InactiveIs that remote a learning remote? I don’t see the four white buttons like we had on the HDR remote.
September 11, 2012 at 8:20 pm #38077Barry
ModeratorNo unfortunately not.
It is multicode, ie you can change the remote code so it does not conflict with other Humax units such as T2 or the Foxsat G1.
You could of course use the Foxsat G1 or T2 remote instead to control the HDR 1000S

InactiveOh dear.
I use my current HDR remote to do double duty as a remote control for XBMC via FLIRC. Very handy indeed.

ModeratorAs we have had some changes today on freesat, thought I’d ask how changes are made on HDR 1000S
The answer is dynamic – ie changes are reflected as they occur

InactiveHello, I have been involved in the satellite industry for around 20 years and this is probably only the third box I have really got excited about (the other two being the Chaparral Monterey and the Nokia MediaMaster, anyone remember those?!).
I am going to be ditching Sky in favour of this box but have a couple of questions. Firstly I have seen mention on some forums of a ‘zapper’ box being available. What is a zapper box, is it a basic satellite receiver that can use DLNA to connect to the main Freetime box, or is it something else? What’s Humax’s intentions to rolling out zapper boxes?
Secondly I have AV cabling around the house so I will be able to connect this straight into scart and view the one box on any TV in the house like I do with Sky already, so no change there. What I do have is a magic eye away from the box for one reason – just to turn the receiver on in a morning so I can turn the speakers on in the bathroom for my favourite radio station. It’s obvious to me a magic eye won’t work on this receiver, and with no RF output I cannot see any sort of equivalent. So here’s my question. Will it be possible to turn the box on at a set time each morning so it automatically comes onto the channel I want, or will I have to leave the box on all night?

ParticipantZapper is a term some use to describe a pvr (heaven knows why). All the Humax pvrs so far have a power on and power off timer and being new it will also have auto power off which turns the box off after a set interval when no remote control activity has ceased. As the latter is a EU requirement it seems certain the new box will have the above.
In any case you can buy various units which will power your magic eyes and retransmit as ir so you can control most anything with ir remote control.
