I have finally linked up my Humax Freesat HDR to my BT Home Hub 2 via a TP-Link TL-PA211KIT homeplug set(“up to 200Mbps data rate”)and 3m ethernet cables at either end, and am getting a slightly blurred picture when downloading programmes from BBC iPlayer – otherwise, it seems to function correctly with(so far) no pauses, glitches etc. I would be grateful if anyone has any idea what might be causing this.

My tested broadband speed from an ethernet-connected PC on the same home network is around 10 Mbps.

    My Freesat HDR status is:

    S/w issue: HPRSFC1 1.00.17

    Loader: U 7.54

    Updated: 20th September 2011

    Many thanks.

Downloading or streaming? Standard quality or higher quality?

Assuming you have selected the HQ option, it’s the same on my Foxsat, presumably a limitation of the SD Higher Quality ( :?: ) option (800kbps) of BBCi player. On my Foxsat it’s broadly similar in quality to the 544 x 576 low bitrate channels.

The HD-freeview box portal seems to support the 1500kbps SD and 3500kbps HD (720p) options which are better quality.

I must have selected the standard quality setting – the higher quality setting does improve things considerably, but I would say not up to the live broadcast quality (which I think is what you are saying).

    Many thanks.
