InactiveIn the Tarn, SW France, using an HDR-1000S.
Have upgraded to a larger dish fitted with a twin LNB in the past year.
Recently, cannot receive ANYTHING related to Channel 5 (UK/USA) or any CBS channels whatsoever, just a pixilated screen.
As far as can go myself, all wires and connections appear to be ok.
I can get most channels as clear as a bell, but those above are impossible to view.
Is it just a “satellite” problem here in France or is there something else l can try?
Any ideas appreciated.
Regards

InactiveI am south of you (32460) with a 100cm dish.
No problems with signal here, except in poor weather like yesterday in the storm when lost nearly everything.
What is reception of the BBC HD channels like, in poor weather they are normally the first to pixelate due I think the FEC they use.

InactiveThanks Repassac (l’m 81220 btw)
Wasn’t yesterday just totally unbelievable!
99% of the time though, ALL channels for me work just fine whether it be cloudy, overcast, or with rain (but not torrential).
However,it can be brilliant sunshine with clear blue skies, but if my dish (also 100cm) gets the slightest whiff of a cloud approaching from afar, then all channel 5 and CBS stations just go pixelated, and also in cloudy and overcast weather.
I don’t think it’s the dish size and possibly not the LNB as it’s quite new.
Should l upgrade to a more powerful LNB (if that’s even possible)?
Just confused as to why every other channel works apart from these.

InactiveYou are 160km East of me which won’t help.
I suspect CBS and channel 5 may be down to compression which does not favour our situation, The BBC I think use a dynamic compression which depends on how much movement is on the screen.
For my LNB I use an Inverto black ultra it has a long neck to optimise focus.
From your description of your problem, I doubt you could improve things other than with increasing dish size. Think I would accept things as they are.
[Graham, any views?]
Agree about yesterday, I am the other side of the road from the church which has a large tower and lighting conductor, so I feal quite safe, but a gap between the flash and the bang was about 1/10th of a second.
Like the temperature drop however.

InactiveThanks very much for your reply Rep.
Will look into getting a better LNB because when being fitted, the dish and the LNB would also be realigned correctly.
Perhaps it has just moved slightly in all these storms and high winds! But l agree overall, will accept things as they are and am just happy to receive English TV here in France!
