InactiveCheck out your network/internet connection.

InactiveThanks for that. I have checked with my broadband provider and they have confirmed low internet speed.

InactiveAnd what are they going to do about it?
If you have a PC, go here and run the test to check for yourself. http://www.speedtest.net/
Running it on a hardwired PC is always best to exclude any WiFi problems you might have as well.

InactiveThey say they have tweaked the speed but I need to reboot my router after 4hrs. They have also supplied a link to test the speed myself as you suggested.

InactiveWhat speed are you getting now? Did you test it before they ‘tweaked’ it?

InactiveI’ve just run a speed test on btwholesale and got a download speed of 3.17 and upload 0.80? Don’t know if that is good or bad?
I didn’t check speeds before they tweaked.

Inactive“How fast does my internet connection need to be?
BBC iPlayer programmes stream at up to 5 Mbps or megabits (5000 kbps), depending on the quality. Our standard quality version is 1.5 Mbps (1500 kbps).
You’ll actually need a little more bandwidth than this to watch programmes on BBC iPlayer. If you think your internet connection is slower than expected, please contact your internet service provider.”
SD programmes are within spec and should work, however during the power-up sequence a check for a response from a server is made and if it times out on-demand will be disabled.
I would suggest trying at an off peak time.

It’s not very good, even for ADSL. How far from the exchange do you live? Are you ‘out in the sticks’?

InactiveDon’t know where my exchange is but as this problem has only occurred in the last few days I’m assuming the problem is with my provider especially given what I’ve read on line today. I’m trying to reach them but not sure I have enough life left to live!!
Thanks for all your help.
