I am thinking of upgrading to an HDR-1100S B. If I watch Now TV through it, can I record the programs?

No. The HDR-1100S will record all programmes transmitted by satellite that are on the freesat EPG.
The chances of Sky (now TV) and freesat getting together are as remote as Donald Trump being elected nicest person of the century.

Now TV have recently made their programmes downloadable but I have not looked into this further as I suspect it does not apply to sports (which is all I am interested in from them) and is only selectively for TV programmes and movies etc.
In which case you could download the programmes you are interested in to your local device (phone, tablet, computer) then cast them to your main TV using a Chromecast dongle or similar.
Perhaps someone else can confirm the details of this?
