I’ve just hooked up my DTR-T2000 (aerial cable from wall socket to ‘aerial in’ port on box; HDMI from TV to box; ethernet cable from box to router; power cable from box to mains) and everything is working fine with the box.

However, when the TV is turned off, and then back on, it doesn’t go straight to the TV view through the box, even though the box has the power on the whole time (I just have a blank screen saying ‘no signal’). I have to press AV on the TV remote and that seems to automatically connect it.

Also, when I put the box on standby using the remote, I can’t seem to get a TV signal through the TV’s built-in Freeview connection (I just have a blank screen saying ‘no signal’).

I’m fairly sure there must be a simple fix for both things, as I don’t think there is any issue with the box. Most probably just a setting that I need to adjust, or maybe I need an additional aerial cable connection from the TV to the box’s ‘aerial out’ port.

    Can anyone help? Thanks.

Latest firmware has an option to enable loopthrough in sby. (Turn off low power sby)

However if you have a reasonable signal a aerial splitter will do the job and save you some electricity.

That is a link to the HDR-2000T but the OP is talking about a DTR-T2000 YouView box.

Senior moment – doesn’t the Youview box have loop through available from the start ?

The OP does not appear to mention a co-ax patch cable from RF Out of the Hummy to the TV? Lack of which would certainly help explain things.

Should have read it more carefully. Isn’t the aerial patch cable included with the box ? They usually are.

There was only an HDMI cable and an ethernet cable included in the box.

Do I need to use an aerial splitter then?

I don’t have a Youview box, It should have a standby option that passes the aerial signal through the box to the TV when in sby. This will use a bit more electricity than the lower power sby options. A passive splitter uses no power.

Up to you – A patch lead has a male belling lee on one end and a female on the other. You can use a male to male lead and a coax coupler if you wish.

If you ever had a vcr there would have been a suitable cable with it.

Splitter connections vary, they often use satellite f type screwed connections.

No rf cable in the box my unit came in.

    To enable loop thru…

    YouView button

    Settings

    Device Management

RF Loop Thru’ option set to on

This of course dependant on a rf cable (patch lead)from YV unit to TV.

What is a rf cable (patch lead) and where exactly do I need to connect it?

    Cable such as this:

RF out on rear of DTR 2000T to aerial input on TV.

It’s just a coax cable with standard plugs on each end. It connects to the socket on the box marked aerial or rf out to the normal TV aerial socket on your TV.

If I, instead, used an aerial splitter on the cable coming from the aerial wall socket, and then connected one to the box ‘aerial in’ socket and the other to the aerial socket on the TV, would that do the same job?

Yes provided your signal isn’t marginal. The splitter will reduce the signal level.

Other than just trying it, is there any way of knowing whether my signal is marginal, or not?
