InactiveHi.
I’ve just purchased the Humax HDR-1100S, after dumping Virgin (got too expensive)
I downloaded the used manual, and it stated………….
Recordings — Only accessible if paired with an USB Hard Drive (HDD)
I got a bit confused, as it has a 1 TB hard drive in it doesn’t it?

Hi welcome to our forum. You must be reading the manual for a HB-1000/1010S.
Assuming you have a HDR-1100S the hard drive it comes with could be 500GB 1TB or 2TB if bought from Humax direct.
How many satellite f connectors are there on the rear one or two ?

InactiveMany thanks for the fast reply.
Oh right, thanks for the link.
I do indeed have the HDR-1100S unit, with two satellite (shotgun) connectors, and a 1 TB HHD.
I actually bought it from john Lewis’s.
thanks again.

No problem

The manual you were reading is for the single tuner Freesat HB-xxxxS boxes. They use a portable usb hard drive to provide live pause and to record to. Ideal as a 2nd box for say a bedroom. It’s the first link on the Humax support site with the HDR-1100S the second link.

InactiveErm, another question……….
I only fitted the box yesterday to an existing Sky Satellite dish.
I think the dish might want aligning, as the quality is not too good.
Everything works OK apart from taking a while to load and the quality.
Would this be down to the dish?
If so I’ll have to get a professional, as I haven’t got a clue where it should point

It uses the same satellites and orbital point as Sky (28.2E).
The dish alignment may need tweaking. For the main UK channels like BBC1-HD you should easily get 100% signal 100% quality as these use very tight UK spot beam transponders so field strength in the UK is very high. If not in the UK then a approx location is needed.

InactiveOn what are you basing the statement that “The quality is not too good”?
Do not rely on the Mk 1 eyeball. First check and report here the signal strength and quality using the box’s built in facilities.

InactiveThanks again to all who replied.
I was going to have a go at realigning the Satellite dish, but I might need a new LNB, so have got an expert calling tomorrow.
Cross fingers he’ll be able to sort it out

InactiveMe again

I’ve managed (obviously) to get catch up etc.
But, can one use the internet (browser) on this box?
