InactiveI currently have an HDR-1100S and the remote has stopped working. Been through all the relevant tests and the guy from Humax support asked me to press 0 and OK together for 5-10 seconds and all I got was a solid red light on STB. he said the remote is faulty and they’d replace it for me. I’m now waiting for the new remote.
1) In the meantime I’m wondering how I register the new remote with my unit, if indeed I need to.
2) We have another HDR-1100S upstairs but the remote from that won’t control the downstairs unit. Is this correct behaviour? Can I register it on the downstairs unit in the meantime?

Not out of the box. Each remote can operate using a choice of 6 different modes. This is so that you can have 6 different boxes in the same room without each of the remotes operating the other five.
Someone must have changed the mode for the remote and its box either for the downstairs pair or the downstairs pair.
If a remote is not working for a box then details of how to sync them to a remote can be found at
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-hdhdr-remote-1
If you are not using the boxes in the same room then you might as well have both boxes and all available remotes to mode 1. That way all available remotes will work all available boxes.

That is what it should do.
using the same box and remote follow the instructions for
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-hdhdr-remote-1
If you ever need to reset a box, I think what happens is that the box reverts to mode 1 but the remote will stay as it is. This means that if you don’t use mode 1 then whenever you reset the box then you will need to go through the remote mode selection procedure again for the two to work together again.
