InactiveHow old is your Aura, is it a new purchase. If you can’t resolve your problems you have 30 days from purchase where you
can get a full refund or a replacement.
Are recordings failing only on BBC4 and ITV1?
Are you able to watch programmes you have recorded previously.
Are you able to pause and rewind live broadcasts.
If you can pause and rewind live TV and watch previously recorded programmes that shows the HDD is working.
Have you tried a full power cycle, long press on the Power button on remote, select OK.
Wait for light to go out, unplug.
Wait two minutes and start up.
Try making a recording.
Has that improved anything.
Have you tried a Factory Reset, all settings, channels and installed apps will be removed, so make notes.
Your recordings will be saved.
Is your TV receiving HD channels?
Check the aerial connection to the Aura make sure it is seated correctly, you may want to take it out and check the cable connection with the plug.
It is important that the central copper wire makes full contact with the central hole and protrudes a little bit out the other end.
Also worth checking any other connections if the cable connects to a wall socket, and if it safe for you to access the aerial, repeat only if it is safe, give that check.
The HD channels on the Aura are stored from channel number 101 (BBC1 HD) upwards.
Did you Auto tune the Aura, if so you may want to try a manual tune.
First you need to find your nearest transmitter and note the Muxes (multiplexes) it broadcasts.
To determine which transmitter your TV should be tuning to enter your address details into the Freeview website here,
https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/detailed-transmitter-information
Based on your location the results will give you the transmitters broadcasting in your location.
The first listed will be named ‘most likely’ scroll further down and take a note of the multiplex numbers it broadcasts, these numbers are under the black circle with a white N inside.
Depending on your particular situation you may need to tune to an alternative transmitter, for example in my case my ‘most likely’ transmitter is 20 miles away but due to buildings it is better to tune the TV to another transmitter 40 miles away which has better line of sight and therefore gives my TV much better signal.
If you can determine which transmitter best suits your needs you can then do a manual tune to the chosen transmitter using the multiplex numbers (there are only five) it broadcasts on.
Once you have noted the mux numbers your transmitter broadcasts make a special note for the mux under BBC B
this is the one that carries the HD channels.
Before manual tuning take the cable out do an auto tune see if that clears the channels.
Cable back in and do a manual tune.
Go to Manual Search.
Tune the SD (standard definition) channels. first.
Enter the first of the mux numbers, make sure Transmission is set to DVB-T.
Press Search.
When done press Save.
Do this for all the SD muxes.
For the HD channels enter the mux number but change Transmission to DVB-T2.
Press Search and when done press Save.
Also take a note of the Signal Strength and Signal Quality for all muxes.
Ideally you would want Signal Strength to be in the 70- 90 range higher than 95 can cause signal degradation.
Signal Quality should be 100.
If signal strength is very low you may need a signal amplifier, if signal strength is very high 95-100
you may need a variable attenuators lower the signal strength.
