Problems for a couple of weeks, breaking up, no or bad signal!

Tried to re retune but not liking my postcode so manual retuned and very few programmes and no BBc ones at all.

I am an 80 yrs old woman and afraid to call in workmen as feel vulnerable.

I am not a technophobe but find the user manual hard to follow

Please can anyone help me, I am so lonely without the t.v.

    Regards Marian

    Welcome to the forums.

Do you have a roof aerial and is it still in position on your roof?

Do you know which transmitter your aerial is pointing to?

Thank you for responding to my problem.

The satellite dish is on the conservatory roof of my bungalow. I don’t know which transmitter it is pointing to. regards Marian

What model of Humax do you have? The HD FOX T2 is a Freeview box that requires an aerial.

The User manual says Foxsat-HDR and lower on the front page it says Freesat+

I have moved this thread to the Foxsat forum.

An expert on Freesat will hopefully be along soon. How old is the dish?

Thank you, do not know how old the dish is as in situ when we moved in 6 years ago.

The book says that the Humax connects to a satellite antenna cable

    Hi Marian,

Welcome to the forum. My first thought is cable connections at the rear of your Foxsat PVR. I assume everything was working ok a while back? Have you checked that cable is firmly connected and not detached from the metal aerial connectors on rear of box. If loose, simply refit and twist cable tightly into connector. They often come loose. Should be a twin cable feed attached to the left and right aerial input feeds on Humax foxsat. The middle one is only used as an output. Maybe fitted incorrectly, or loose connection somewhere? If not, then a fault with dish setup outside.

Hopefully this maybe problem, but do let forum know how you get on/if you need more help. Without seeing your setup, can only take a wild guess. Hope you get it fixed. John L

Most likely is that the dish has moved; but checking of cables / connections is a wise move.

No ability to put in postcode for tuning = no home transponder reception = moved due to wind and/or water (rain) damage to external cables and connections.

Retuning was the worst thing to do, sadly, and it’s too late now.

Talk with family / friends and neighbours who may be able to help check stuff (suitably distanced). Though Covid is now much less severe than it was.

You need a satellite dish installer – request recommendations from people you trust.
