InactiveI notice the german Humax UHD 4tune+ Quad Tuner has only 2 Sat connections, but does it require a quad LNB or an Oct LNB to access the multiple Simultaneous recording options?
I spoke to Humax this morning about the new Freesat 3rd Gen boxes and it was mentioned as “soon”..

Hi welcome to our forum.
The icord requires a unicable lnb to use all 4 tuners.
As so far no details of the new box have been released it’s anyone’s guess.
They might use a similar system to Sky-Q which uses a wideband lnb with just two outputs (one for horizontal polarisation and the other for vertical). As their is no band or polarisation switching you can feed multiple tuners in the same way you can with terrestrial.

InactiveThanks Graham, just ordered a Sony TV but been using Freesat since Day 1 and still use a fox so I thought I would get a 3rd gen one when released, but was wondering if I need the dish installer back to change a few things, might even get a terrestrial Ariel at the same time!

Out of interest, are you sure Humax are building the box ? Though it seems very likely I haven’t seen this announced anywhere.
It would be very convenient if the Sky-Q system was used as a Sky-Q hybrid lnb would fit straight onto a Sky type dish. These have 6 outputs leaving four for legacy kit like my HDR-1000S and Foxsat-HDR
Any ideas Barry

I posted that link in the broadcast threads last year. It doesn’t say who is going to build it though.

InactiveThese seem destined for world domination, they produce them by the million in china and have a very low price point, they do lots of Subco from the big players and recently showed a Set top boxmedia servermusic& video streamer that is 180cm x180cm

InactiveSo is this UHD 4tune+ box the 3rd generation box hinted at?
Can/should I buy one from Germany and use it in the UK to replace my trusty Foxsat-HDR?

Doubtful. The G3 box contract has been lost by Humax, awarded to a company ARRIS as I recall. So the chances of seeing a G3 FREESAT branded/approved box from Humax are close to nil.

Unlikely that it will support the FREESAT EPG.
