    Hi,

Just bought a 2nd hand FVP-4000T to replace my dead one. It appears to have a common problem of not being able to pause/record live TV (says its in an invalid state and retry in a few seconds) and all recordings appear with the broken video symbol and a length of 00:00 and playback just gives a blank screen. Completely reset and format HDD but the problem persists. Updated to latest firmware (1.03.54) but results are the same. Downloaded the previous version (1.03.53) from support site and still the same. I’d like to try oder versions (52, 51, 50, ….) etc to see if I can find one that works. Does such an accessible archive exist?

    Thanks.

    Andrew.

It all depends on the error message. Some are known to be terminal.

Probably better to check the hdd is correctly fitted first, then try swapping it if there is still a problem.

    Hi,

Sorry I forgot to say that I used a 2nd HDD to test as well – same result. Exact error is “The function does not work while retrieving data for time shift buffer. Try again in a few seconds”. This is the error message when tryin gto pause live TV. Instant record on live TV appears to do nothing.

    Thanks.

So my question is – is there an archive of previous upgrade files available?

    Andrew.

Not as far as I know. I have a copy of an FVP upgrade dated 20-07-2020 if you want it. I doubt that changing software versions will help but no harm in experimenting.

Yes please – anything is worth a try.

    Thanks

In hardware terms they are almost identical and the FVP-5000T software will run on an FVP-4000T without problem. If you dig back in the archives of this forum you will find people using FVP-5000T software on their FVP-4000T long before Humax confirmed that it worked. My take is that the FVP-5000T was launched with some software improvements because the FVP-4000T had got such a poor reputation.

Somewhere in the forum there are photos of an open 5000t that clearly shows that the mainboard actually says 4000t. No idea if later versions had different hardware.

No need to apologise; it isn’t something that is immediately obvious.
