As a result of last night’s signal problems due to the high pressure, I tried to watch the six o’clock news live on BBC1 via iPlayer, but ran into two issues:
1. After a few minutes it suddenly changed from the news to the earlier edition of Pointless.
2. I wanted to enable subtitles, but could find no way to do it.
Any suggestions? As I said, this was watching live, not on catchup.
Thanks SSThing. Unfortunately not. I can get the subtitles to work by pausing if I am watching on catchup.
But when watching live pause does nothing and the only display I get is the picture and, if I scroll down, the word “live” and the channel iD and there is no time bar, nor any icons.
I don’t have my 4000t connected to the internet (because of the instant record issues) but on my TV (while iPlayer live), press the UP button and an icon appears top left, press OK and the options for subtitles appear.
It’s probably completely different but possibly not.

Fortunately, the conditions are better tonight, so we don’t need iPlayer live.
What happens if you just press OK during live play?
Nothing
Edit: Yes, just double checked. Not even the display mentioned above, just no reaction.
