InactiveI have an older Humax Fox T2 model, which relies on an external usb memory for recording programmes. I would also like to try and use the dongle wifi connection, but there is only one usb socket. I cannot connect by Ethernet and wanted to ask, if anyone has found an adapter which would allow both of these devices to be connected at the same time? Allowing me to continue to record, whilst having access to the wifi connection.

ModeratorWelcome to the Forum

A USB Hub is what you are after. I used a powered one for a while with ext HDD and Humax dongle.
Example, although not the one I used:

InactiveThanks, I’ll look into the Hub you suggested.

InactiveI bought and tried the Hub, but it still does not pick up the wifi connection and the usb memory stick, is unable to be used to record. Are there any other settings or methods I could try?

ModeratorI did not suggest that hub, just gave it as an example however:
Are you powering the hub?
If so then try it on a PC ensure it is working.

ParticipantIf I remember correctly to record you need a hard drive of at least 160GB.

THe 160GB was just someone’s speculation.
A hard drive of 80GB has easily worked for me by by allowing the HD-FOX-T2 to format it.
Statistics from the custum firmware remote timer application show that a 60GB has been got to work by someone and is being used. As my HD-FOX-T2 will not format my 60GB drive I suspect that they did this manually.
I have a range of flash drives including 63GB and 128GB. The HD-FOX-T2 will not format any of them for recording. It is possible that the HD-FOX-T2 has been prgrammed not to format flash drives for recoring regardless of the size.

InactiveThanks, that may explain the reason why it is not working and I’ll try a larger memory device and see if that works. The wifi asks for a manual set up, is that normally the method on Humax or should my broadband connection show on the configuration?

InactiveThe Hub works fine and I was not making an issue, just asking if there are any other settings I should try to connect the Dongle and USB drive together.

InactiveTried a Buffalo HD 500GB, worked fine apart from when the Humax PVR is switched to standby, the HD makes a beeping sound and flashes on and off. So, I cannot leave the PVR switched on constantly and if I unplug the HD, it will not record whilst being on stand by.
Any suggestions?
Downloading a software update and will try this as well, but thanks for the replies they have been helpful.

ParticipantI use a 1TB drive with a HD FOX T2. The drive is mains powered so I use a hub with one of the outputs connected to one of these (usb controlled power stick).
The power unit for the drive plugs into one of the controlled sockets on the strip. When the box comes out of sby the strip powers up the drive, works like a dream.

InactiveI have given up trying to connect using the multi usb connection adapter and will have to resort to changing the separate devices, as and when required.
Thanks for your suggestions.
