My Humax 5000T is 3 years old and about 4 weeks ago it started turning itself off after a completely random period. It could be after 1 hour or 5 hours or anything in between. I have checked all the connections to make sure it nothing obvious. Humax support have advised that it could be the mains cable/PSU but I am loath to fork out £25 for a replacement if that is not the problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem and did changing the mains cable/PSU solve the problem? Thanks in advance.
First thing to try is cover up the front of the unit with a piece of cardboard so that it cannot receive Infra red.
All sorts of kit can generate infra red including faulty low energy bulbs, even TV’s when you switch them on. I used to have a infra red repeater with a red led indicating a infra red source. It turned on every time I booted my Panasonic TV.
Have you recently fitted any new low energy lighting in the same room. Do the problems arise when these are on.
