InactiveNewby here,
I found some software via this forum that says it will enable me to connect my PC to a HUMAX via USB and edit / transfer the HUMAX files. The software looks a bit old?
Just so that I don’t muck this up, please can someone confirm the download details for the latest software.
Does this overwrite the HUMAX software or is it just retained on the PC?
Thanks for any advice

That doesn’t sound right; you shouldn’t need any special software to download from the HDR. The trick is to ensure the recordings are decrypted prior to transfer. The only way to do this with SD recordings and the standard firmware is to copy to an attached USB drive. HD recordings cannot be decypted with the standard firmware.

InactiveThanks Martin,
Looks like I shall have to undertake a bit more reading and get back.

InactiveMartin,
The piece I read was this:
My Humax Forum » Freesat HD » FOXSAT HDR

Your options for transferring recordings between the Foxsat HDR and your PC are:
1. With a USB stick or USB hard drive (the Foxsat HDR manual describes how to to this).
2. With custom firmware which allows you to connect from your laptop to the Foxsat HDR via home network. See here to get started:

Am I up the wrong tree with my HDR FOX T2?
So have you got a FOXSAT (satellite) or HDR-FOX T2 (Freeview)? Different animals with different software.

InactiveWell you have found the correct link for a FOXSAT HDR but you posted this in the HDR FOX T2 forum – these are two different set top boxes. There is custom firmware available for both.
Beaten to it by Martin!

InactiveFirstly where does the link mention a T2 – it describes a Foxsat.
Secondly, removing and reinstalling the hard drive is rather excessive.
On both the T2 and Foxsat custom firmware provides a much better transfer solution.
