Hi. My friend has been given an HDR 1800T. I have connected it to a tv for him, but it is stuck on the loading screen with a message saying press standby to restart.
We press the standby button and the machine switches off and back on, but will not go past that loading screen.
Any ideas?

If you are confident about opening up electronics equipment, the first thing to try would be to disconnect the hard drive and see if the box will boot up and function as a set top box. If it does then replacing the hard drive stands a good chance of getting the box working again.
