Picture & sound were glitchy on some channels for 3 days in South London area. Today no signal at all. Cable connections look good, dish is still on the wall.

Is there a tried & tested routine?

    Thanks.

Check the LNB connections for water ingress. A sure sign is the copper is black/sooty.

My procedure for what you describe (No signals at all, on any channel) would be:

    1. Check the fitting of the F-connectors for good contact of the inner and outer cores with no shorting and a correctly size connector for the cable width.

    2. Check no channels are being received – a good way to do this is a non-freesat FTA tune.

    3. Put unit in standby swap LNB1 and LNB2 connection retest 2.

    4. Check for water ingress – normally you wound loose a block for frequencies and this would progressively expand.

    5. Suspect the LNB.

Step 6….trash it and buy an Enigma 2 satellite receiver instead.

And find it is not displaying a signal.

But when the signal is fixed at least you get a reliable and more versatile unit without the associated unreliability problems Humax shirk.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will have to call an engineer to check the LNB. Thanks again.

For what it’s worth, it was actually a tree blocking the dish. I cut the tree down, and saved myself a fortune. The weirdos in the flat beneath me complained about the tree, but there’s nothing I can do about that. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice.

I hope that you hugged it first.
