    Hi Guys

    Second newbie question.

I notice that when I turn my tv off the Hdr turns its self off.

Is there any way to set it so the box is always on.

So that when the tv is on I am not having to turn the box on.

    Cheers Jim

This is called HDMI-CEC and is a TV setting, different brands call this different things, you can turn it off on the TV.

You will then control the HDR-1000S using just it’s remote.

It you leave it on you will shorten it’s life and send about £25 a year more in electricity.

As an alternative, you could leave the TV on and just mute the sound.

HDMI CEC – you need to turn this option off on your TV.

Dependant on model of TV it could be called for example:

    Panasonic – viera link

    Samsung – anynet

    Philips – easylink

    Toshiba – regza link

The reason is you have the TV CEC control system enabled. This allows the TV to auto select the appropriate hdmi port when you turn on the HDR1000S. Unfortunately the system assumes when you turn off the TV you don’t want to use the HDR1000S (like for instance listening to Radio via a separate amplifier). It’s a rather stupid idea in my opinion. Afaik the only way to resolve the issue is turn off CEC control on the TV set up menus.

You will then have to manually select the appropriate HDMI socket on the TVif it wasn’t the last used optiom.

Just to add to the confusion different TV makers give CEC control different names.

    See item 3 here
