Hello Everyone, I a new to the forum, so please excuse me if this has already been covered,
My unit has started to fail to record programmes, it might start but only record 7 minutes before telling me that an unknown error has occurred.
I have also found that the HDD which is 500GB now displays that the size of the disk is now almost four times its original size, it is currently displaying a size of 1737GB,
Also when you play back a recording, it will play for an unspecified time (this being dependant on how it feels) and then shuts down going back to live TV, at this point you cannot go back into the Media to watch your recording, you are locked out for over an hour,
Does this now mean that the HDD is corrupt and that it needs to be replaced?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated,

Sounds like it, corrupt at least.
check software version and update as necessary.
Copy off whatever you want to keep, find a suitable empty usb stick or external drive and format it on the Humax if necessary. You may not be able to copy anything useful off depending on the state of the drive, if it looks as though it will hang for an hour, simply power off and try a different file/programme to copy, the older ones may copy off.
If you don’t want to attempt to keep anything, take a note of your schedule with a camera phone or notepad etc. and factory reset it with a format. Set it to record as many programmes as you can over the next few days to test, check and delete as necessary.
If you’re feeling adventurous, google custom firmware for the hdrfoxt2 and use that to diagnose properly before condemning the drive
If that doesn’t help,or you’ve proven the drive to be faulty with the custom firmware then, assuming a family member hasn’t wanted to surprise you over xmas by upgrading the 500GB to a 2TB when you weren’t looking, it’s probably time for a new drive, sizes tend to be 500GB, 1TB or 2TB and there’s plenty of advice here already if you search

Menu – settings – installation – assuming not altered default password 0000 – Factor Default.
Make a note of your recording schedule first.
Good morning Damian and Graham, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you both, Just by way of an update, I carried out the factory reset and ‘Bingo’ everything is sorted, all my programmes within my library are working and the HDD is now showing the correct size.
