HDR 1100S, turned on the box yesterday, all my recordings have gone and will not record. Checked settings , the HDD is not recognised, did a factory reset still not recognised. Had the same problem on my previous box. Any suggestions please.

Well known problem with the HDR-1000 and I assume this is the same problem. If you poke around in this section of the forum you will find some reports by users that heating up the motherboard with a heat gun can fix the problem.
Will changing the hard disk solve the problem?

Most people who have tried a different hard drive have reported no improvement.
