InactiveNoticeable with BBC, every so often a prompt comes up asking to watch in HD which is both a nice feature but also irritating after a while – is there any way to turn it off (it only seems yo happen with BBC ?)
Also when selecting to record BBC the box usually offers the choice to record in HD (although does not give any confirmation if you select yes). The record in HD option does not seem to come up with ITV, 4 and 5 – is there any reason for this.

ParticipantDown to the broadcaster to provide the data. However intrigued how you could have a Channel 5 HD option
Currently Channel 5 HD is only available by subscription (though it’s rumoured it may be coming to freesat).

Can’t you find 5 HD in your channel guide ??

OK, have to admit I was a bit ahead of myself there (wishful thinking).
What a shame that all broadcasters don’t work to the same standards in these situations, it is the end customer that suffers.

Channel 5 actually bid for and won a spare HD slot on Freeview-HD. On both occasions they pulled out.

InactiveI wrote to support about the “watch in HD” message and they told me I can’t turn it off.
Is there a feature request portal for Humax where I could request this feature in a software update?
It is distracting when the message keeps popping up

I don’t understand why you would want to watch the sd channel, unless of course you aren’t receiving hd in your area?

InactiveI was wondering why I’d never had this message pop-up until it dawned on me that it was because I only watch and record from the HD channels where they are available.
I’m also wondering why anyone would do otherwise.

InactiveI often watch BBC1 in SD for the local news. I don’t mind the ‘watch in HD’ popup, however it displays it randomly every few minutes when watching BBC1. It really should only pop up when you first tune to an SD channel, so I think it is a bug that needs to be looked at.

InactiveSome of us ONLY have the option to watch regional news in SD. Those in the STATE of LONDON are well catered for though so that’s all right 👿

Well said! Those living in the State of London have the local programs broadcast in HD so they can delete all the SD channels and don’t get the problem.
As for the “doesn’t offer the HD equivalent for ITV” problem – see Record ITV SD does not offer ITV HD

Sorry to correct you, but as one of those London dwellers we don’t get our BBC local news in HD either

We get the same annoying screen telling us to change to SD.

ParticipantSatellite viewers have the option of viewing any of the regional BBC SD (and National HD BBC channels). On a Freeview box how hard is it press 1 to switch to your local region ? On a satellite box you have to remember 3 numbers 😯

If you are referring to Freeview, you have a local transmitter, compared to satellite 22000 mls above us, you have a ground based transmitter at the best about 1000ft above it’s location. You have one local BBC SD channel on lcn 1.
Not exactly sure what your post means, a tad confused
