InactiveFirstly I am not technical! I have a FVP 4000T only about a year old. It has worked fine until lately when it will not turn on from standby. The only remedy is to turn it off at the mains and start again. Surely this is a fault? Any help much appreciated.

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

Does the front led on the front of unit change to blue or a brighter red?

InactiveYes today the blue light has come on and today it just says that there is no signal! I disconnected the box from the tv and it works perfectly so is not a signal fault but something wrong with the box.

InactiveSadly you are not alone, this seems to be extremely common for this box.
I should return mine and by something different but I’ve got so many programs I don’t want to lose already recorded on the box.

InactiveJust obtained new 4000T freeview with same lockup problem.
My local retailer phoned Humax who replied.
Go to Network Settings
Turn OFF Network Sevice ( it’s on by default)
When set to OFF it stops 4000T searhing for OS updates which causing the lockup problem.
After doing the above I no longer get lockups.
Assuming Humax will do an update with next OS

InactiveHi Graham, I don’t have an option to turn off Network Service within the network settings (I’m on the latest version of the software).
I’ve already turned off network server (as per other recomendations) but that’s not fixed the issue.

ModeratorNetwork server is what has to be turned off, which you have already done so I suspect a HDMI CEC problem.
Try turning off ‘TV Power Control’ in the System Settings menu, and if necessary turn off HDMI CEC on your TV.

InactiveNKVeTZ9edAIp. Barry’s reply would be interested if that helps.
You are correct it is network server (not sevice)
My instructions above came direct from Humax.

InactiveHi Barry, All of that is off, its been off for months but the problems persist until Humax sort it.

ParticipantAs an experiment, can you try connecting the box via the analogue connection to a scart socket on the TV ? Does that allow the box to boot from sby (if recording, if 15 mins prior to recording accurate/series recording and if in full sby). That would rule out HDMI control issues.

InactiveOK, I’ll need to buy a cable so this won’t be an instant fix, but once it arrives I’ll give it a go. Is this what I want?

Or one of these
and 3 phono cables.
The link you provided doesn’t say if it’s video/audio in to the scart or vice versa.

InactiveHi guys just a thought i have had a 4000t since the beginning of March and have had to change the batteries n the remote already this has helped with it starting
June 16, 2016 at 6:44 am #71345Anonymous
InactiveHi everyone. I just bought my humax 4000t this week and sorry to say but I’m also having the same problems switching it on. Only way to get it to start up is to unplug it which is very frustrating i.e. hands and knees job.
I’ve just done what was suggested and turned off the network server so let’s see how it goes. Must admit its only when its left off overnight that it wont start up i.e. if you switch it off for a few hours during the day it will start up ok no problems.
I should have heeded the warnings from the customer reviews but they also seemed to suggest that the software upgrade had resolved many of these problems.
Let’s hope they do another one very soon.
