Can anyone confirm whether the ftp or samba option is reliable on this unit. Also that when SD content is copied it isn’t decrypted so how can you view it on a pc? Sorry bit confused.

Earlier in the thread I saw someone talking about a custom firmware for this unit, does one exist already?

I’m asking on behalf of my father who is looking to replace his foxsat hdr (with raydon firmware). Has just bought the 1100S and quite promptly returned it for refund as there was no way to archive files of it. Have been advised to look at the Panasonic DMR-HWT150EB but can’t find any file transfer options on that either.

If the FVP-4000T isn’t that reliable for transfering files via network does anyone know a unit that will?

    Hope you can help.

No and it will not be trivial to do.

Do you happen to know if SD files copied from it via ftp/samba to computer are encrypted and won’t play on the computer? Or is this just for HD.

    Welcome to our Forum :-)

    SD remain encrypted I’m afraid.

So not playable through vlc on computer? If not that’s a shame, looks like going keep the foxsat going…

Do you know of any other recorders that will allow transfer of radio/video via network without encryption?

Is there anyway to transfer recording from this unit to PC without it being encrypted?

If using USB can you copy more than one file at a time?

Think I may have to look on ebay for an old foxsat hdr at this rate.

Only tried this on win 8.1 PC

You can transfer SD recordings to PC if the network server option on the FVP 4000T is on.

FVP will appear in my computer/network locations see FAQ

Simple a matter of dragging and dropping to PC.

You can copy multiple recordings via usb see this FAQ

What you are trying to achieve is being made harder and harder I’m afraid. Whilst you can copy files to a USB drive both on the Humax and the Panasonic they will be tied to the device they are copied from.

This effectively means when the device dies the archiving dies with it. The foxsat and similar are now ageing hardware so sooner or later the other side wins. I have managed to copy files from my HDR 2000T in SD and play them on a computer.

See the final post on this thread:

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/drive-not-visible-on-pc

for what is possible and not possible with the FVP-4000T with the 1.00.59 firmware.

With the 1.00.63 firmware some bugs might be removed but the basic design ensures that HD recordings are always encrypted whereas SD recordings are decrypted if copied over USB or Samba but not FTP.

I have the lastest firmware 1.00.63 with Vista on a PC and also a Synology NAS box – if I create a network drive via either PC or NAS and copy recordings with Samba to either device, they are still encrypted. If I plug an external hard drive into the Humax USB port the files copy as decrypted and are playable – the problem with USB is the files take forever to copy over.

When files are transferred to external hard drive via USB is there an option to copy many or do they have to be done one by one? (ie like foxsat hdr)

I don’t have the box but the Samba server creates a mapped drive on your PC that works like any other external drive (eg a usb drive plugged into the PC). You should be able to use the usual crtl and shift file selection and drag and drop the selection in say Windows explorer to another explorer window.

A owner would have to post how copying to usb works. Incidentally you don’t have to copy files one at a time with a Foxsat-HDR either.

Pressing Media – Opt+ – File Manager – Yellow (Edit Mode) Gives you the capability to toggle a tick on multiple files for copy/delete operations. Once you have started a multiple file copy you can press the off button as the box will go back to sby when the files are all processed.

When I use via Samba, the files are still encrypted.

With USB you can copy one or many but if you have 110GB so far like me then probably need a long time based on experience to date.

Wanted to back up before Humax do box swap but gave up.
