    My Foxsat HDR has become unresponsive to both the remote and operation of the small buttons at the front of the unit. Switching off for a while then back on has no effect and it is stuck on Channel 4 which displays normally.

    Any thoughts where to go from here? A dealer for a new unit!!???

    Try disconnecting the hard drive to see if the box will then boot up.

    Thanks Graham that worked, but I wonder why? Is it just an extension of the “switch it off and back on again” school of thought which so often works (although not this time) or can you explain why it worked when unplugging at the socket didn’t?

    The issue could have been a faulty hard drive. Though from your post it sounds as if you have re-connected the drive and it’s now working. Possibly a bad connection on the drive data connector down to oxidisation and reconnecting the hard drive has fixed it.
