InactiveHi,
My Foxsat HDR 100GB is locking up when using the EPG. The only way to restore any operation is to cycle power at wall socket.
Software: HPRSFC1 1.00.17 / 20SEP2011.
I have done a factory reset & checked for updated software but it says non available. The problem persists daily.
Thanks,
John

InactiveMartin,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, if you see my second post, your solution is not possible as the machine will not accept usb access. Any ideas regards that issue?
Cheers,
John

Your other post does not make it clear what you are trying to do with the FAT32 drives. If you are trying to apply a software update are you following the instructions to the letter?
1. Download the software from the Humax website.
2. Change the file name to “FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf”.
3. Connect the USB memory stick to the PC and copy the file to a root folder of the USB.
4. Place the product into standby mode (using the STANDBY button on the remote control or the STANDBY button on the front of the product)
Note: The update will not download correctly if you are currently recording
5. Pull out the USB memory stick and connect the USB to the front panel of FOXSAT-HDR.
6. Press and hold the STANDBY button on the front of the product. The product will now start up and the download process should start, please keep the STANDBY button held in for 30 seconds and then release. The following screen should appear on the TV set while the download takes place.

If you can’t update manually then instead of pressing guide, press the schedule button on the remote then the red button to display the epg

The update should make it to the OTA before too long, when that happens your box will update automatically provided you leave it in sby overnight.

InactiveHi Martin,
Thanks for your assistance. Originally I was intending to upload some photos & try to downolad a recorded programme. However, as stated as soon as I insert the usb device & the machine tries to recognise it or do whatever it does when you plug a drive in, it puts up the message ‘unable to read etc etc…..’ so it would appear to me to be irrelevant what I’m doing as the machine won’t recognise the usb.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Rgds,
John

InactiveGents,
I tried the manual update & as suspected it did not work. Following the instructions, USB inserted, start & hold SBY switch for 30 sec etc…..Box started up then shut down again as I was holding switch (It did not see USB).

With regard the USB memory sticks there have been many reports of users having difficulty finding a memory stick that works with the HDR. AFAIK the Humax documentation recommends a stick of 1GB or less, but such small capacity sticks are becoming like ‘hens teeth’. The link below provides information regarding readily available USB sticks that are known to work OK.

InactiveChrissaf,
Thanks for the info. I’ve now found a 1GB USB that works!
I have (after some trial & error with the files) managed to upgrade my loader software to ver 7.54 & my operating software to ver .20
Thanks to all for your assistance.

John

InactiveHi
Very new to this forum and just bought a Foxsat HDR
Am getting the EPG Freeze problem and there are many posts on the web referring to this.
The BETA download referred to above – does this specifically fix the Freeze problem?
I seem to be able to make it freeze by hitting the page down and arrow keys repeatedly while it is downloading the program information – as if its a buffer overload while its waiting.
Many Thanks
Mike

InactiveYes it does –
Humax description:
• Resolved rebooting issue relating to bad sectors on the HDD
• Hang-up improvements
It is expected (by me anyway) that this will be transmitted over the air shortly after the 11th or 12th.

InactiveHi Seulnom,
I did the upgrade yesterday & last night was the first time in ages that I had no lock-ups, so seems to be the fix.
I have added the process I used below (I’m no expert!) Some steps are not mentioned / explained in the Humax instructions. Hope this helps……
If you have a USB stick that works:
1. Download new ops software 1.00.20 from Humax Beta.
http://beta.humaxonline.co.uk/freesat-hd/Foxsat-HDR_1.00.20.zip?attredirects=0&d=1
2. Un zip the file. This will give you a new folder. Open this new folder, it has two files inside, 1 text file you can delete. The other file rename: FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf
3. Copy just this file onto you USB stick.
4. Put machine in standby. Insert USB. Press & hold front power/sby button in for 30sec. You should see download page on tv screen before the 30sec are up. Once screen says download successful. Turn off power using main power switch on back of machine. Remove USB stick. Turn on power at back on machine. Wait approx 60sec. Now press power/sby button on front as normal. Machine should boot-up.
Cheers,
Googlewack
