I moved to Cyprus to live, taking the FoxSat HDR+ 500gb box with me. Everything went well until Cyprus lost access to the Astra satellite in 2012, thus depriving us of UK TV via dish.
Since then all UK TV channels are available only via internet (through proxy or VPN).
I wondered whether I could connect the Humax box to my home computer network to at least use the 500gb hard drive to store files, video downloads etc.
Would be grateful for innovative ideas to make best use of this otherwise redundant set top box.

Have you run a manual tune, if you do you should get any channels broadcast on Pan European transponders including the freesat channels listed below
If you install the custom firmware you can map the hard drive in windows or use ftp to transfer content. Raydons AV2HDR can be used to create the 3 files required for playback of suitable video files and with the custom firmware can be directly uploaded to the disk. You should still be able to access the channels broadcast from Eutelsat28A and Astra 2 pan European transponders (including the Freesat home transponder) and with a suitable dish locally available satellite channels using non-freesat. The CF allows you to add these to Freesat mode.
