    Hi Guys,

    I hope someone can help me please?

    I have a number of avi files that I’d like to play on the Humax Fox T2 – some play fine without any issues… however many don’t!! I have looked at the properties, but I can’t often see any difference.

    Can anyone help me with the correct avi format(s) that the T2 will play??

    I can then run the failing files through a converter to get them to play.

    Have you looked using Median-Info (select the treeview option).

    The .AVI container is capable of containing a bewildering variety of video types.

    Basically video compressed using mpeg2, H264/AVC or mpeg4 using 576i or 1080i should be OK.

    So any that won’t play, if I convert to MPEG4 they should be ok?

    Without knowing framerates and resolutions, not a clue. .AVI files can be almost any resolution.

    Try a couple out. You can export the mediainfo analysis to a textfile. Posting the info for one that doesn’t work would help.

    File – Open locate your file – OK

    File – View – Tree

    File – Export Choose the Text tab

    Click on the … icon and locate where you want to save the textfile (.txt)

    Give it a name and click OK.

    Open Notepad and open the file.

    Edit Select all

    Edit copy

    In your post paste the contents (Crtl + V)

    You could always use FormatFactory to re-encode problem AVIs to MPEG4 576. Rember that 576 or 1080 is the vertical height of the frame. You can also check the frame rate of a file that does play and set that value for problem files.

    Any that won’t play I just convert to MPEG4 – they seem to work then…
